Dorchester Collection's Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris presents its newly renovated Royal Suite redesigned by Marie-José Pommereau.

Designed in a truly Parisian style, the 450-square metre suite is the largest in Paris comprising four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two drawing rooms, an office and a separate kitchen.

The new design, which takes inspiration from the originality of the location, blends contemporary features with Parisian tradition. The result is a distinguished and fashionable space providing guests with a sense of peace and serenity in the heart of Paris with spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower, Avenue Montaigne and the hotel's beautiful Cour Jardin.

While maintaining the classical feel of the rooms and furnishings, Pommereau has given the suite a more modern appearance, in harmony with the vibrancy of the hotel and its fashionable location. This is conveyed through the furniture from the Régence period between 1715 and 1723, as well as through the paintings and the antiques reflecting traditional French interior design. Similar to the wood panelling of the 18th century style, the fabrics, silks, damasks and trimmings have all been made by French craftsmen. Amidst the classical furnishings the colour palette of the suite has been refreshed. The first drawing room area is filled with shades of purple and the second one emphasises the contrast of gold and raspberry, whilst one bedroom is decorated in apricot and the other in lilac.

The bathrooms are entirely tiled in Italian marble, specially selected for the Royal Suite in the quarries near Verona. The spacious bathrooms have been designed to provide relaxation and convenience - one has a steam room and Jacuzzi and the other has a built-in television.

Luxury and elegance are combined with high-tech features such as flat screen televisions in all the rooms which are discreetly concealed within mirrors. Adjustable lighting and new security locks have been installed as well as a remote surveillance system to ensure the upmost safety and well-being.
