The Audi Allroad Shooting Brake Crossover: Looks great, is multi-terrain capable and is very, very quick.
This stunning new vehicle made its debut at the North American International Auto Show. The brand with the iconic four ring logo is aiming to extend its design language via the Audi Allroad Shooting Brake. This compact two-door car has wonderful lines and would stand out proudly in the brands line-up alongside other beauties including the R8, TT and Coupes. The crossover combines a host of visual elements of future sports car, Its user interface strategy also offers an outlook on future production solutions.
The Audi Allroad Shooting Brake Crossover is sporty, compact and versatile. This two-door car is a crossover and so it is not limited to paved roads. Its high level of functionality makes it ideal for recreational sports. Its hybrid drive, which is as powerful as it is efficient, makes a new form of quattro drive possible – the e-tron quattro. With a wheelbase of 2.51 meters (8.23 ft), the show car – painted in Ice Blue – is 4.20 meters (13.78 ft) long, 1.85 meters (6.07 ft) wide and 1.41 meters (4.63 ft) tall.
Although visually, it’s a two-door with sleek, sporty lines, there is still plenty of room for four passengers inside. In front, the narrow sport seats give the driver and front passenger optimal body support; they feature highly contoured lateral panels and integrated head restraints, while cushioned pads support the thighs in quick driving through curves. An easy entry function makes it easier to enter the rear seating area. When the rear seatback is folded down, a cargo area with a level cargo floor is created, in which there is space for rather large sports equipment.
Designed with clean and taut lines, the interior of the car utilizes the colors anthracite and rock grey. The materials reflect the skilful handiwork of Audi designers – this is evident in the alcantara roof lining and in the various qualities of leather and the bright and dark aluminium materials that are used for controls and trim, e.g. on the air nozzles and the spokes of the multifunction steering wheel.
The car is certainly not lacking in the performance department with 408 hp of system power and a huge system torque of 650 Nm (479.42 lb-ft). Weighing in at 1,600 kg (3527.40 lb) without the driver, the car accelerates to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds, topping out at an electronically limited 155 mph. The compact crossover has a low fuel consumption figure of 1.9 litres of fuel per 100 km (123.80 mpg) (45 g CO2 per km [72.42 g/mile]) based on the relevant ECE standard. Its total driving range is up to 820 km (509.52 miles).
In summary: Great looks, on-road and off-road performance and a blistering 0-62 mph time – Yes please Audi!
