It was a magical day where the glamour and elegance of Italian cinema came together with the greatness of Hollywood to honour Italian Composer Ennio Morricone
The Bulgari DOMVS in Via Condotti in Rome hosted a special ceremony during which Lorenzo Soria, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, paid tribute to the legendary Italian composer, Ennio Morricone, winner of the 2016 Golden Globe for Best Original Score for Quentin Tarantino’s hit movie The Hateful Eight. This is the first time such an event has been held outside the actual Golden Globes ceremony.
At the Golden Globes ceremony on January 10th in Beverly Hills, Tarantino had accepted the award on behalf of Ennio Morricone as the Maestro had not been able to attend.
The Bulgari DOMVS was the perfect setting to present the Maestro with his third Golden Globe (after The Legend of 1900 and The Mission).
The exclusive event to honour the 87-year-old icon was attended by Carla Liuni (Vice President Global Marketing and Communication, Bulgari Group), Lorenzo Soria (President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Golden Globes), and the glittering elite of Italian cinema including Margareth Madé, Beatrice Bulgari, Eliana Miglio, David Jarre, Isabella Borromeo, Antonia Dell’Atte.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the announcement of Bulgari’s support of ‘The Glance of Music’, the documentary Giuseppe Tornatore is in the process of filming as a tribute to Morricone, a pillar of the world of music as well as his friend and long time cinematic and musical collaborator of almost 25 years. The documentary is produced by Piano B produzioni of producers Gabriele Costa and Gianni Russo, Mandragora Movies, and associate producer Gisella Marengo.
Bulgari’s support of the documentary is an example of Italian excellence in bringing together the creativity of Bulgari, Tornatore and Morricone.

Ennio Morricone commented: “I have now worked in this profession that I love for many years, always with humility and complete dedication. I am deeply honoured by this prize, the Golden Globe, Bulgari’s sponsorship of the film that my friend Giuseppe Tornatore will direct, and to receive this award in this historic setting which represents Italian excellence throughout the world.”
Six-time Academy Award nominee and winner of an Honourary Award for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music (2007), with a career spanning seven decades, the legendary Morricone has sold over 70 million records worldwide and composed 500 scores for cinema and television, as well as over a hundred classical works. His impressive catalogue covers 70 award-winning films, including all the Sergio Leone films since the Dollars Trilogy such as Once Upon a Time in the West and Once Upon a Time in America, and all of Giuseppe Tornatore’s films since Cinema Paradiso. His score for The Hateful Eight is now in the running for the Oscars.
