If you though that cusomisation was limited to cars and boats, think again. Edelweiss are now offering the opportunity to customise their pianos to match your decor

Cambridge-based piano makers, Edelweiss have come up with yet another innovative idea. As some of you might have seen earlier this year, we published an article on the brands incredible self-playing piano. To make things even more interesting, they’ve now introduced the ‘Build-your-own’ piano configurator – a world’s first.

The Edelweiss configurator offers customers the ability to customise the self-playing piano to any colour they desire. Edelweiss state that they can produce any colour the client desires and with hundreds of finishes and contrasts to choose from, customers can tailor the look of the self-playing piano to complement the environment where it will be placed

Just as Bentley, CRN Yachts and Aston Martin have allowed us to travel in a totally customised way, the Edelweiss Piano configurator offers exclusive, one-off instruments that really show your true colours.

Edelweiss Lets You Tinkle With The Look Of Their Self-Playing Pianos 7Edelweiss is known for their attention to detail and it was no different when it came to creating the configurator. It took their team ten months of work including 1,600 images and 20,000 lines of code to get it right. Although these stats might seem a little daunting, the effort was well worth it as customers can design a piano in as little as a couple of minutes and once designed can expect the finished product in its location in less than three months.

“It’s said one in five of us now crave an item of personalised clothing, so we saw no reason why this couldn’t apply to musical instruments!” says Ross Normana Director for Edelweiss Pianos — now a third-generation family business. “People naturally want to put their creative stamp on their purchases, and differentiate themselves from the pack, so why not make a mark with a personal piano too?”

Considered the key design trend for 2016, even the fashion houses have been at it with everything from bracelets to backpacks getting statement initials and bespoke colour combinations. Fendi, for example, is offering its handbags with nine different mix and match straps and at Pringle of Scotland you can customise your cashmere.
