Hair Overhaul At Hari’s - One of London's Most Celebrated Salons

It’s all about achieving expensive-looking hair at HARI’s – the hot spot for swish cuts and colour for Londoners in the know

So what are the insider tricks of the tresses trade to deliver on such head-turning appeal?

I was lucky enough to visit HARI’s spacious two-level Fulham salon (in Parson’s Green to be precise) to find out. First, I met with talented colour technician Salvadore, who has tended to manes from all over the globe during his time in California and long-standing position at this style spot.

Salvadore talked me through the latest colour techniques and options to add a gentle tonal lift to my one-shaded dark locks with a soft and subtle mix of complementary rich browns and golden tones. Like an artist working on a canvas, Salvadore effortlessly painted on the tinted potions with total precision using sweeping brush strokes – known in the industry as the balyage technique.

Hailed as the next big thing in hair colouring, Splash Colour is kinder to hair than traditional processes, as it is applied on wet hair whilst you’re in the washbasin. What’s more, the colour is left on for a shorter time, therefore cutting down lengthy full head appointments.

The Splash Colour technique can also offer maintenance in between appointments and transitional changes without the damaging effects that longer processing treatments have on the hair. It also reduces colour overload – the main cause of dull lifeless hair, which lacks the natural texture and clarity of colour associated with ‘virgin’ hair. The result is a colour that looks instantly clean, pretty and translucent, as it works like a demi-permanent tint, and leaves a lasting impression.

“Wet colour is a trend that is huge in the California, as sun-exposed hair needs a gentle approach. This technique mimics those natural highlights you get from the sun, making hair look sun-kissed rather than bleached,” says Salvadore, who has spent years perfecting the wet techniques on his clients.

With my tresses gleaming with lighter hues, I was then treated to a speedy but highly skilful haircut by top stylist Sultan – a specialist in stylish wearable cuts and super bouncy blow-dries. The length was kept on my limp locks but neatly tidied and softly layered to add more texture and give it an overall glamorous look and feel.

Bestowed with beautiful swishy hair and an elegant new colour, I felt completely red carpet ready.
