Following its opening in 2014, Sunborn Gibraltar’s top deck Sky Restaurant has undergone a complete re-design for July 2017.
With the appointment of a new chef and revitalised menu concept, the restaurant on board the stunning superyacht will be offering a modern fusion of cuisine combining delicacies from the deep Straits of Gibraltar, Italy, exotic North Africa and the Mediterranean.
Italian-born Head Chef, Mirko Scarabello, leads the way in the kitchen, drawing together inspiration from his homeland, as well as the flavours of North Africa, Lebanon, Gibraltar, Morocco, and the Mediterranean. With a wealth of experience under his belt, Mirko has worked with some of Europe’s finest chefs including 2 Michelin-starred chef Giuseppe Lavarra and trained under the renowned Gualtiero Marchesi.
Mirko’s fusion cuisine at the renewed Sky restaurant will be dominated by a specialty Josper charcoal oven. The Josper is an elegant combination of a grill and an oven which allows for perfectly-cooked mouth-watering meats and delectable seafood and vegetables. Alongside Mirko’s specialty dish – Tuna Steak with Kalamata salsa – the oven will be used to prepare dishes such as the Moroccan spiced burger, Mechoui leg of lamb and roasted eggplant shakshuka with a twist.
The stylish Sky Restaurant is located on the top deck (7th floor) of Sunborn Gibraltar and has a retractable roof to allow for stargazing and a light breeze during the summer months. While floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and a terrace on each side of the restaurant offer stunning views of the famous rock and Bay of Gibraltar. The intimate bar area is the perfect place to retreat for a digestif after dinner or enjoy cocktails with friends in an elegant setting.
The new Sky restaurant will complement and elevate Gibraltar’s culinary offering, located at the Rock’s only 5-star accommodation, and boasting the unique concept and global attraction of the world’s first superyacht hotel. Coupled with the excellent facilities on board the Sunborn Super Yacht including state of the art guestrooms, a number of cocktail bars, a casino, large pool and sundeck, spa, gym and grand ballroom, the Sky restaurant will certainly make a dramatic epicurean journey to The Rock of Gibraltar, celebrating the geographic location and stimulating all the senses.
The new Sky Restaurant will re-open on 1st July 2017.
