Exercising our Palate at Lime Wood: The Ultimate Foodie’s Retreat

The Herb House spa at Lime Wood

The Herb House spa

Wander down the fairytale-like passageway and you’ll find Lime Wood’s Herb House Spa. Set over three levels, there’s a heated hydro pool with floor-to-ceiling windows and superb forest views, a steam and sauna, a decent-sized lap pool and a heated outdoor pool. There’s also a swanky rooftop gym and yoga studio.

If you want to combine your love of food with a relaxing spa day, you can. ‘The Feel-Good Food Spa Day’ includes a morning cookery lesson focused on preparing healthy dishes (think superfood salads and raw deserts) and a lazy afternoon in the spa.

Spa treatments use artisan beauty brands, including Bamford, Voya, Pai, Tri-Dosha and Aromatherapy Associates.

I enjoyed the Bamford Signature Facial (£130) which combines a deep-tissue back, neck and shoulder massage with a bespoke facial. The combination of the relaxing hot stones, herbal lotions, and the spa’s dreamy ambience will leave you a slightly sleepy, glowing and completely unravelled version of yourself.

The Raw & Cured spa restaurant is your go-to lunch spot (another hit with the foodies). It’s the sort of place you’d see in London, serving nutritious small plates bursting with flavour and goodness. Expect fresh juices, salads, raw pizzas and home-smoked meat boards. There’s alcohol on the menu too, because you are on holiday after all.

Anything else?

Opt for cocktails or afternoon nibbles in the luxurious courtyard bar, with its state-of-the-art retractable roof.

If you’re keen to walk off those indulgences, there are aches of woodland to explore around the hotel. Grab a map from reception and stop by the welly room to save your shoes from the mud. Lime Wood’s landscaped gardens also make for a wonderful afternoon meander.
