The Beneteau First Twenty and First 25S Yachts from the special Twenty series.

The Beneteau First Twenty and First 25S Yachts from the special Twenty series.

The Beneteau First Twenty Yacht As simple as a great idea, this Finot-Conq plan managed to take inspiration from current fashions to evolve – First 211 in 1998, First 21.7 in 2004 and First 21.7 in 2007 – and to have an outstanding career, unique in the history of sailing yachts.

The Beneteau First Twenty and First 25S Yachts from the special Twenty series.Small in size but colossal in its unanimously acclaimed qualities, 20 years on, this yacht continues to be the pride and joy of its owners. Nearly 3,000 boats now sail the seas the world over and the owners’ associations display incredible vitality. The timeless design of this small boat, a benchmark in its category, succeeded in attracting both keen young sailors thinking about their first buy and the over seventies far from having said their last word at sea!

This year Beneteau gave her a rigging which will perpetuate her appeal. With a square-top mainsail whose area was increased, similar to the Genoa, and its stay-free self-supporting mast, the First Twenty, had a more sleek and aggressive appearance and gained new modernity.

A huge pleasure even in light air The choice of self-supporting mast, getting rid of the stay, made it possible to change the rigging and replace the standard mainsail with a square-top mainsail. The more balanced area distribution of the mainsail and Genoa favours speed and performance. Even in light to moderate air, you are guaranteed enjoyment and sensations at the helm! To adhere to the trend that favours asymmetric sails, the First Twenty standard is equipped with a polyester bowsprit on its bow.

Easier circulation and optimized interior spaces Thanks to this new rigging, which frees the lower shrouds, access to the fore is no longer hindered, making circulation on deck much easier. This is particularly appreciable on a boat of this size. Equipped with four real berths, many stowage areas, a real saloon, a small galley area and a large cockpit, the First Twenty retains the size of the earlier version, but her layout has been made more practical.

The Beneteau Special Twenty series includes:

  • A set of North sails
  • Special hull decoration
  • Teak lathe cockpit seat
  • Panel opening at the back of the cockpit for additional storage
  • Mount for outboard engine

The Beneteau First 25.7 Yacht If it has not yet had the honour of celebrating its twentieth anniversary, the First 25.7 still benefits from the changes to the Twenty with fresh rigging! Renamed the First 25 S, it is now equipped with a square-top mainsail, a traveller track on the rear beam, and on option, a North sails kit. As of now, low-shrouds and stays are a thing of the past on small First.

The Beneteau First range matches all the ambitions and all the budgets of keen ocean racers. Today it includes six models ranging from 20 to 45 feet: First Twenty – First 25 S – First 30 – First 35 – First 40 and First 45.
