The Melges 24 World Championship witnessed the participation of 129 fiercely competitive boats from 22 countries and 4 continents.

A record championship without the usual strong wind but characterised, nevertheless, by very tough regattas.

After 5 days of competitions and 11 races, in which Riccardo Simoneschi’s yacht was always in the lead group keeping a cool head in moments of stress, the Audi-Eberhard Sailing Team ranked 3rd on the podium. A result that rewards the hard work of this team, which has shown great skill in reading the winds of Benaco, alternating conservative decisions to a fighting spirit to aggressively tackle the duels with their ranking “neighbours”.

Simoneschi declares himself to be very satisfied: “It was a fabulous Championship, even though the wind failed to live up to expectations. We always sailed well, making excellent tactical decisions, with a perfect crew and a satisfactory boat speed. The podium is our reward”.

Eberhard & Co. heartedly share the enthusiasm and satisfaction: “2012 has been a great season, full of excitement, and this last result perfectly crowns it” says Mario Peserico, General Manager of Eberhard & Co. “We’re sure that the final appointments of the year will bring additional positive results”.
