Say goodbye to chrome because brass is making a comeback!

Venture into any new showhome fully fitted out with contemporary furniture and it is rare that you’ll come across the golden gleam of brass. For what seems like an age, home-stagers have opted for neutral coloured materials interspersed with chrome, black and in some cases quite outlandish bright colours. It could, of course, be that chrome is linked to modernity and clean design while brass, due to its long history of adorning grand properties is considered to be a little staid.

Fortunately, we appear to be in for a changing of the guard as many leading furniture manufacturers are now bringing this sought after material back into their furniture designs, injecting some much need to glamour to a property.

One of the foremost names leading the charge of the brass brigade is London-based interior design specialists Mufti, bringing their new brass-based furniture and accessories to the home in 2017.

The new range features a variety of bespoke and made-to-measure pieces all carefully handcrafted to emphasise the brand’s signature style – elegant casual.

Mufti’s director Michael D’Souza explains: “The trend for metallics has come straight from the catwalk. Choose a few, well-chosen pieces to instantly add warmth to your home for those with luxury living in mind. Polished and aged brass has become the metal of the moment following a move away from copper. This resurgence means this warm metallic will feature high on interiors wish-lists – after all, brass is a timeless, highly durable metal which will stand the test of time.”

“The pairing of metals, such as brass, with all natural, raw materials will also come to the forefront of interior design where a combination of warm tones against a natural, clean stone, for example, can instantly create a stunning piece of furniture.”
