Steeped in History
11 Cadogan Gardens certainly has a story to tell. This regal retreat was once four separate Victorian townhouses built by Lord Chelsea in the 19th century. It was also a popular jaunt among celebrities, politicians and aristocrats way back when.

The hotel’s unique heritage can still be admired today among its creaking staircases, narrow corridors, and hidden rooms. During its recent redesign, the architects took great care to preserve the hotel’s Victorian façade.

The décor is an eccentric mix of old and new. Dark walls are lined with large gold-framed paintings and ornate chandeliers swing from the tall ceilings. Ask nicely, and you can hitch a novelty ride to your room or suite in the renovated pre-war lift.

Bespoke Rooms and Suites
11 Cadogan Gardens has 56 beautiful rooms and suites. Each of the 25 suites has been individually designed to compliment the hotel’s unique character. I was lucky enough be staying in the luxurious Signature Suite, which I could liken to a small apartment with its hallway, lounge and desk area – complete with complementary bubbly. The quirky four poster bed was a delight to sleep in and the opulent marbled bathroom was simply stunning. The suite felt as cosy as my own living room with its light brown and rich gold colour scheme, and sumptuous furnishings.

Although the suite remains respectful of its Victorian roots, I still had access to all the mod cons today’s traveller could need – including an enormous HD TV, surround sound system, Nespresso machine, and free Wi-Fi.
