Rory McIlory second Major win and back to World Number One.
Audemars Piguet Ambassador Rory McIlroy claims his second career Major title at the US PGA Championship on Sunday August 12, after wining the US Open in June 2011. The 23-year-old returns to world number one for the fourth time this year.
Rory McIlroy becomes the youngest man to win two majors since Spain’s Seve Ballesteros in 1980, and his eight-shot margin of victory is a new record in a US PGA, surpassing Jack Nicklaus’s seven-stroke margin of victory at Oak Hill in 1980. The Northern Irishman is now a multiple major winner at a younger age than Nicklaus, Woods and all but four players in golf history.
“I had a good feeling at the start, but I never imagined doing this. It means an awful lot to look at the names on that trophy and put mine alongside them.”
Remarkable performances by other Audemars Piguet Ambassadors include those of Ian Poulter who ended in a tie for third place and of Graeme McDowell, joint 11th.
LeBron James Olympic gold medalist twice
On Sunday August 12, LeBron James won the gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games with the American Basketball new “Dream Team”. In a rematch of the 2008 Beijing final, USA beat Spain (107-100). LeBron James managed once again to come up with big plays in crunchtime moments, 2 months after winning the NBA Finals. He also became the first American in Olympic history to achieve a triple double (against Australia with 10 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds) proving his all round skills.
