Get a backstage makeover
Those pitched up at The Pop-Up Hotel can also book in for some preening and pampering at the on-site salon.
This year, The Pop-Up Spa housed rockabilly-inspired barbers Reuzel (reuzel.co.uk) who were offering cut-throat shaves and slick haircuts for the guys.
The girls could treat themselves to a range of bohemian blow-drys and up-dos by Milk_Shake Hair (milkshakehaircare.co.uk), while international make-up artist Kim Jacob, co-owner of Wild About Beauty with Louise Redknapp (wildaboutbeauty.com) added a touch of sparkle with her glamorous festival makeovers. Just weeks ago, these in-demand hair and beauty brands were working their magic backstage at Wilderness Festival.
Whether a relaxing shampoo and restyle, or a makeover to rival the stars, festival-goers were feeling fresh and festival-ready thanks to the passionate Pop-Up Spa team. If you missed them at the festival, you can always pay a visit to one of their boutique salons or take a peek at their products online.
For those who chose to go all Bear Grylls and brave the full camping experience, the Powder Room at Zooloos (zooloos.co.uk) offered a sanctuary from the site. A weekend pass provided access to sparklingly-clean showers and flushing loos, as well as a chic dress-up area, complete with premium toiletries, hair stylers, fluffy towels and goodie bags. The contemporary bar and chill-out tent served hearty breakfasts and lunches catered by The Chopping Block. There was also a salon and massage tent to soothe away any festival woes.
Enjoy a real restaurant dinner
Listen up, foodies – five days in a field doesn’t mean eating every meal from a soggy polyester container. There’s fine dining to be found at Glastonbury.
At The Rocket Lounge Restaurant (deluxediner.co.uk) diners can enjoy a silver service three-course meal with fine wine and cocktails, with live bands in the background.
Head Chef Andy Evans (winner of the Observer’s Best Sunday Lunch award) is the man behind the menu, which this year, included indulgent dishes like slow-cooked pork terrine, grilled Devonshire lobster and a chocolate and salted caramel delice. The cost? £45 for three courses. Well worth it if you ask us. The Rocket Lounge is a regular at Glastonbury and lies in a small field between Shangri La and The Unfairgound.
There’s no shortage of gourmet food at the festival stalls, either. Some of our favourites included, The Soulful Food Company, Piggie Smalls, Lynda’s Loaf, Anna Mae’s Mac n Cheese and Pizza to the People.
