Staying healthy doesn’t have to put a halt on your social life. These are the best diet-friendly, Dry January events this month.
If like the rest of us, you’ve indulged in one too many eggnogs this Christmas, chances are you’re embarking on a fitness regime to return to your former, less bloated self.
But staying healthy and skipping the booze shouldn’t mean a temporary end to your social life. In fact, bars all across London are offering a lifeline with their sin-free drinks menus and Dry January events. So, here are our favourite places to enjoy a detox-friendly drink this month. Bottoms up.
Kite Lite Drinks at Talli Joe, Covent Garden
Want an excuse to indulge in a taste of India? Here it is. All-day drinking and dining restaurant, Talli Joe, have launched a new drinks menu with your New Year diet in mind. Taking inspiration from India’s traditional health drink (made from lemon juice and water) the Kite Lite menu features tipples that are brimming with detoxifying ingredients. You can even add alcohol if you like. The Kite Lite menu is available until the end of the month.
Dry January at the Bloomsbury Club Bar, Bloomsbury
With its sleek, twenties-style bar and separate, second alfresco area, the Bloomsbury Club Bar is the perfect spot for drinks anytime of the year. And now you can enjoy one (or two), guilt-free at their three-day Dry January event in partnership with Seedlip alcohol-free spirits.
Drink your way through the zero alcohol cocktail menu, along with nibbles, in the Seedlip-inspired space. It’s only running from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 January, so don’t miss out.
The Saintly Six at Dirty Martini, Various
If you’re not quite ready to go cold turkey, Dirty Martini’s new range of low calorie and vegan cocktails could be just what you’re after.
They’re called ‘The Saintly Six’ and are made with the latest clean-eating ingredients, like bee pollen, proven to promote weight loss, and fresh ginger, an effective antioxidant.
The vegan ‘Fixer Upper’ contains a mere 215 calories, while the ‘Ginger Elixir’ pairs rejuvenating ingredients that your body will thank you for. The Saintly Six are available until the end of January.
Virgin Cocktails at Christopher’s, Covent Garden
Sip sin-free at the Grade II-listed Christopher’s in London. Their tasty but surprisingly skinny selection of virgin cocktails is served in the art deco Martini Bar. The colourful range of alcohol-free tipples, look (and taste) just as good as their counterparts. And if you get peckish, check out their Superfood Brunch menu, which includes an intriguing superfood desserts section. We’ll toast to that.
Conscious Cocktails at Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, Various
From the Savoy Grill, Maze, to the Michelin-starred Petrus, you’ll find health-conscious cocktails this January across the entire Gordon Ramsay Restaurant group.
They’ve worked with Finlandia Vodka to craft a selection of ‘Conscious Cocktails’ for a guilt-free New Year. With no sugar and no fat, low-cal, gluten-free Finlandia vodka is a great choice for those watching their waistline. Cocktails include the humorously named ‘Carrot On Camping’ and ‘Beet Me To The Finnish’. Enjoy.

And lastly, if alcohol isn’t your thing, why not give your detox a helping hand with natural tea boosters from artisan tea bar Piacha? The boosters are made from herbs, flowers and spices and are designed to give your tea an extra boost of goodness.
