Three Great Places in London to Celebrate British Pie Week

Three Great Places in London to Celebrate British Pie Week

British Pie Week is coming soon (5th – 11th March), so we wanted to let you know about the hearty warmers, new season specials and unique twists on this comforting classic that three top-notch taverns in London will be offering in celebration.

The King & Co and Elm Park Tavern

Throughout British Pie Week, much-loved Clapham Common craft beer pub The King & Co and newly refurbished sibling freehouse the Elm Park Tavern in Brixton Hill will be serving up the infamous “epic pies” by streetfood pie specialist MYPIE.

Visitors to the two popular independent South London boozers will be able to take their pick from the latest selection of proper pies by the cult favourite British Pie Awards winner, such as chipotle pork shoulder with black beans or mushroom, spinach and truffle, all accompanied by homemade mash, greens and gravy (£10.50).

The King & Co and Elm Park Tavern

The perfect cosy and friendly place to unwind, both pubs offer a regularly rotating tap list of over twenty keg and cask craft beers as well as a carefully curated wine list to enjoy with MYPIE’s signature pies and the simple, seasonal dishes created by the pub team’s new head chef Greg Hillier.

To celebrate the relaunch of their in-house kitchen after three years of hugely successful residency collaborations and popups, The King & Co will also be offering a special 25% discount on combined food and drinks bills of £25 or more during March for subscribers to their newsletter (full details and signup here).

The Oystermen Seafood Bar & Kitchen

Those looking for an alternative way to celebrate British Pie Week can head to The Oystermen Seafood Bar & Kitchen in Covent Garden to sample talented head chef Alex Povall’s unique beef and oyster “pie”.

Served inside the oyster half shell, the fun twist on the classic dish features butter-poached oysters heaped with beef braised in The Oystermen x Canopy Beer Co’s limited edition “Everyday Oyster Stout”, topped with panko breadcrumbs (£8.00 for two).

Diners can match their mini “pie” with a bottle of the same collaboration craft brew or choose from a host of grower champagnes available by the glass and contrast the cooked oysters with the daily fresh cut-above collection of raw rock and native oysters sourced from all around the UK.

Since launching last July, The Oystermen’s first permanent location has rapidly become renowned for providing exceptional food at an affordable price coupled with top-notch service, and the Seafood Bar & Kitchen in Henrietta Street is currently rated on Trip Advisor as London’s highest-ranking seafood restaurant and the second-best restaurant in the capital.

The intimate 26-seater space in the heart of the West End focuses on serving the finest fresh fish and seafood with a frequently changing menu to make the most of day boats’ best, and their weekday “Bubbles ’n’ Oysters Happy Hour” (3 pm – 5 pm) providing six freshly-shucked rock oysters plus a glass of Crémant du Bourgogne for £10 is an outstanding value pre-theatre deal.
