Independent London roastery, Volcano Coffee Works, has redesigned its 100% compostable, 100% ethical capsules so that they break down faster than ever before whilst also fitting any Nespresso-compatible machine.
The coffee pods, initially launched in April 2017 to help tackle the problem of plastic waste head-on, are also now air-protected to prevent degradation of the product quality over time and feature new compostable technology.
The capsules, lids and bag packaging are made from a 100% bio-based cornstarch material. This material releases significantly less environmentally harmful byproducts during production than the popular aluminium and plastic pods on the market and is a completely renewable resource.
Whilst traditional pods can be less than convenient when it comes to throwing them away, taking anywhere between 150-500 years to break down, Volcano’s innovative pods can simply be placed in your local authority food-waste collection bin, where they disintegrate in just 90 days!
