Celebrity Cruises Literally Has The “Edge” On The Seas

The much-anticipated 2900-passenger Celebrity Edge cruise ship has finally arrived for her first ever European sailings, and there are two brand new ports of call to look forward to: Nauplion in Greece and Santa Margherita on the Italian Riviera. It’s not the biggest cruise liner and it doesn’t have any fancy slides, but like its namesake, it certainly has an ‘edge’ to it and appeals to the contemporary traveller.

Luxurious Magazine’s Senior Reporter, Sabi Phagura, went on board to experience all it has to offer.

I’m not the most experienced cruiser, but I have been on a fair few now to know what to expect. And the first thing I noticed about Celebrity Edge was how it seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor space. There’s so much greenery on board, and combined with the huge windows, it’s impossible to have ‘cabin fever’. And our incredibly light and airy suite on the 11th level was no different.

With a bottle of bubbly on ice to welcome my mum and I’s arrival, not to mention the ultra-comfortable king-size bed, it was almost tempting not to leave for a couple of hours at least.

There’s so much to explore, and with sunshine on our side, we were initially drawn to the resort deck where the entertainment is loud and influenced by today’s chart songs. You can swim some laps in the 25-yard lap pool or simply relax in the two-storey Martini glass hot tubs and private cabanas. And if you’re craving ‘quiet time’, then the adults-only indoor solarium is the place to head to.

If you’re lucky enough to be staying in a suite, you also have complimentary access to the retreat sundeck with a plunge pool and whirlpool as well as the Luminae – the suite-only restaurant.

Further R&R can be found in the spacious, water-inspired spa complete with 23 treatment rooms, which has no less than 124 treatments available. The only tough part here is choosing which one to go for.

After the coach journey, my mum treated herself to a full-body massage of no less than 90 minutes and was eager to share her experience. Not immediately though as she was left relaxed – and dare I say in a zombie-mode – for several hours afterwards. The SEA Thermal suite offers eight distinctive therapeutic experiences with most of the senses taken into consideration. You don’t have to book yourself in for a treatment either to indulge here.

Taking a relaxing soak in the hammam, drawing a deep healing breath in the Salt Room, cleansing your body of toxins in the steam room and destressing in the Infrared Sauna Room are just a handful of the experiences offered here to return you to optimum health.

As a natural daydreamer, I took refuge in the Float Room with its floating basket chairs and shut the door on the outside world. All the latter experiences provided here are complimentary for AquaClass guests.
