From food to drink, The Yan always endeavours to use local producers with its meat, fish and dairy products all coming from small suppliers within Cumbria. Dishes on its menu also feature produce that comes from the working farm next door such as chicken and duck eggs as well as Broadrayne Herdwick lamb. Even The Yan’s coffee and beer come from just down the road using Red Bank Roasters, a Lake District coffee roasters, and Grasmere Brewery, a craft microbrewery, at Lake View Farm, Grasmere.

Dish highlights from The Yan include traditional Shepherd’s Pie made with slowly braised lamb and cheesy mash potato, cured ham, parsley garden peas (£14.95) and sharing plates of Thyme & garlic beef brisket, baked potatoes filled with garlic cheese, corn on the cob, vegetable coleslaw with a spicy Cajun sauce and chargrilled flatbread (£29.95).

The bistro serves breakfast until 11 am every day with the kitchen opening again at 3 pm until 9 pm.
