A Slice Of Australian Paradise 10The Pullman Resort Bunker Bay resort sits on the coast of the beautiful Margaret River wine region in the far South West of Western Australia. This five-star property is unique in the fact that it is not made up solely of one building, but instead, takes the form of 150 rooms housed in luxurious and modern bungalow-style villas. At the top end of this resort’s offering are the three bedroom suites which border their own private lake.

A Slice Of Australian Paradise 11We stayed in a Studio Villa King Bed which translates as a large and airy open plan suite with a combined bedroom and living area. Featuring beautifully polished floorboards and limestone-coloured walls, the small lounge comes complete with a dining table and flatscreen TV (one of two in the room) and opens on to a private terrace offering garden views. The well-equipped kitchenette is more than adequate for those who wish to self-cater and want the luxury of cooking their own meals. It includes a hob, microwave oven and dishwasher with all the utensils and crockery that you would require for a simple family meal or a romantic supper for two. If this wasn’t enough, there are numerous barbeques dotted around the resort for anyone wanting to adhere to this long-standing Australian tradition.

Lined with a generous array of Roger and Gallet toiletries, the ensuite bathroom is equally as spacious and enticing. There is the choice of either relaxing in the standalone deep soak bath or enjoying the large walk-in power shower. Long glass windows looking onto private walled gardens provide a plethora of light to make sure that you can always catch a glimpse of the stunning surroundings.

One of the biggest selling points of this hotel is undoubtedly its location. A short meander across a wooden boardwalk suspended over the dunes reveals a secluded beach where you can watch the clear waves of the Indian Ocean lap the gorgeous white sands of Bunker Bay. It really is paradise, and despite the odd umbrella or occasional beach towel, there really is nothing to disturb the magnificent vista or indeed anything to muddy the crystal clear warm waters. This leaves you with the perfect opportunity to pick your spot, lie there for hours or enjoy a good book in pure tranquillity.

A Slice Of Australian Paradise 12Water is of course a running theme at Bunker Bay, and at the heart of this resort is the 25-metre wet edge infinity lap pool where you can sit back on one of the many loungers with a cocktail in hand and admire the magnificent sea views. The leisure area is also bordered by a well-equipped gym for those feeling a little more active. If this is not your scene, there is always the complimentary Yoga class, two tennis courts where you can play for free in hourly slots, or the life-sized Connect Four game board and giant chess set for a challenge of a different kind. And if it’s some pampering you are after, the resort’s own Vie Spa, open seven days a week, provides a comprehensive selection of massages and spa treatments including tailored packages for men and women.
