Aqua Kyoto – A Little Sashimi Slice Of Japan In The City Of London

Aqua Kyoto - A Little Sashimi Slice Of Japan In The City Of London

Leanne Kelsall embarked on a mission, to discover the best places to eat around Regent Street, for this review she headed to aqua kyoto for some top-notch sushi

With no shortage of sushi spots in the culinary capital, most of us prefer to stick to the places we know best. However, if you haven’t yet discovered aqua kyoto – one of three Aqua restaurants in London – you’re missing a chopstick, I mean trick.

Make your way through the swanky ground floor lobby and hitch a dark and mysterious ride in the lift up to the restaurant, an enormous room located on the fifth floor. It’s filled with dark oak and red, velvet furnishings and extravagant Chinese lanterns.

The spot-lit sushi workstation is a feast for hungry eyes, with fresh tuna, salmon, sea bass and other sashimi proudly displayed. There’s also a roof terrace, which our waiter explains is a bustling cocktail hub come the summer.

For now, however, the British weather has kept us indoors and, in any case, we’re here to try the renowned Infinity Brunch served with unlimited Veuve Clicquot.

The modern sushi brunch menu includes a beautifully decorated sushi platter, as well as sticky chicken skewers straight from the grill. Many of the chefs here have worked in Aqua’s Hong Kong branch and the food certainly plays testament.

Even our waiter, a man on a 12-month ‘transfer’ from Aqua’s Hong Kong HQ says the London branch is a little sashimi slice of Japan here in the city.
