Borgo Santo Pietro’s Grand Suite Is Probably the Most Enticing Suite in Tuscany

Presiding over the full south wing of the thirteenth-century main villa on the estate. The Santo Pietro suite is now ready to give guests a true Tuscan experience with direct views over the vineyard and Valle Serena.

Jeanette Thottrup, the owner of the hotel, is responsible for the interior design of all the rooms at the hotel. She explains that “nature is at the heart of everything at Borgo Santo Pietro; the new colour scheme of dusty blues reflects the expansive blue of the Tuscan skies and the Mediterranean sea”. This theme can be seen throughout the suite.

“The Santo Pietro Suite, “Jeanette continues “has a special place in our heart as it is in the main villa where everything started over 13 years ago. The space, the location and the terrace with the incredible view on Tuscan hills is unbeatable for me: it reminds me why I fell in love with the estate.”

In the centre of the large, separate bedroom is a huge four-poster bed with a new, bespoke head-board and bed-crown, both of which have been handcrafted by a local Florentine artist. The fabrics used are from Claremont Furnishings.

A new fireplace has been installed as the focal point of the living area. In addition, replicas of historic tapestry fabrics have been used to upholster the chairs, enhancing the feeling of grandeur.

Up stone-carved steps, there is a mezzanine with a walk-in wardrobe with a cosy seating area.

The new terrace – over 80 square metres – has a direct view over the fields and vineyards of Valle Serena. It is surrounded by bay-leaf hedges to create total privacy and features a comfortable sofa, an outdoor dining area, as well as a large four-poster bed and a new fireplace.

Jeanette concludes, “Santo Pietro Suite has always been loved by the guests for its style and for the internal space: the living room and the spacious bedroom and of course the en-suite bathroom with the freestanding bathtub. I wanted to focus the attention on the view and make sure that all our guests enjoy the beauty of Tuscany to the fullest. The view from the terrace was always special, and with the new outdoor space they can actually enjoy it even more.”
