BRP Motors On With New Can-Am Spyder ST Line-Up

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is adding to its Can-Am Spyder roadster range in 2013 with the introduction of the new Can-Am Spyder Sport Touring (ST) line-up.

The sleek new Spyder ST, ST-S, and ST LIMITED models have been designed for those riders looking for a three-wheeler experience without having to compromise on cutting-edge looks and excellent handling performance.

The new Can-Am Spyder ST range provides more relaxed ergonomics through the footrest and handlebar positioning and a specially designed sport-touring seat, improving driving comfort for both rider and passenger.

The footrest position allows riders to stretch their legs on longer rides, enabling the knees to have a more open position. The handlebar has been pulled back by four inches and set higher by 3.3 inches compared with the RS model, allowing a relaxed riding position.

The sport touring seat is padded and firm, ideal for handling tight corners and minimising body roll during cornering while providing lower back support.

A manually adjustable windshield and removable wind deflectors complete the stylish design package, offering functional protection from the elements. Drivers can customise their wind protection to match the weather conditions, optimising their comfort on hot or cool days.

The console has also been raised to offer better protection on the hands, upper body and helmet. Additional key features of the Spyder ST line-up include:

  • A 998 Rotax V-Twin engine with electronic throttle control for more torque at a lower RPM
  • Crisp roll-on acceleration leading to less wrist strain
  • 15-inch, metallic silver, twin-spoke front rims with low-profile tyres
  • Adjustable passenger footboard
  • Multi-function colour display
  • Roadster Electronic Command Centre with LED accent lighting for easy control
  • Brembo braking system with larger discs specifically designed for Can-Am to increase braking performance
  • 44 litres of front storage
  • A digitally Encoded Security System (D.E.S.S.), which requires a properly coded electronic key to operate the roadster, providing increased security.

The Can-Am Spyder comes in Pure Magnesium Metallic.

The Spyder ST-S and Spyder ST LIMITED roadsters have all the standard features of the Spyder ST model (priced at £21,099) but with several additional enhancements and colour options to achieve an even sportier look and touring performance.

Riders can choose between Circuit Yellow Metallic or Pure Magnesium Metallic for the Spyder ST-S, which costs £18,999. The front fender integrates LED light pipes for enhanced visibility and a design that aids aerodynamic performance.

A sleek carbon black finish is added to several parts, including the 15-inch front wheels with low profile tyres, handlebars, footrest, rear sprocket, exhaust and shock springs, while the electronic cruise control provides ease and comfort for the rider.

Carrying a price tag of £21,099, the luxurious ST LIMITED package is the sport touring roadster for the individual who is looking for the best money can buy. It is available in Blackcurrant and Pearl White.

Its 15-inch, 12-spoke, chrome front wheels, accents on the exhaust tip, and heat shield define the signature LIMITED look. An AM/FM audio system with iPod integration cable, weather band and optional satellite radio system comes as standard.

For easy navigation, Garmin Zumo 660 GPS and Bluetooth wireless technology are preinstalled, and for long weekends and holidays, the lockable and removable rigid saddlebags provide 68 litres of additional storage.

Finally, a 12-volt power outlet, embroidered seat and front cargo liner add to the design, making it a striking three-wheeler.

The Can-Am Spyder ST models all feature BRP’s innovative and stable Y-Factor™ architecture. Two forward wheels and a double A-arm design up front, a swing arm with a mono-shock and a single rear wheel drive the vehicle.

The Spyder ST line-up is also outfitted with the Vehicle Stability System (VSS), developed in partnership with Bosch.

The Y configuration combined with the VSS, together with proven automotive-derived technologies such as anti-lock braking, traction and stability control, delivers the Can-Am Spyder roadster range with confidence-inspiring handling and control as well as an exhilarating ride.
