This June, Castello di Vicarello, the 12th-century castle set in the wild countryside of Tuscany’s Maremma, will be opening the doors to Villa La Vedetta, its first standalone villa. The villa, which was the castle’s historic watchtower, has been sensitively transformed into a refined two-bedroom private retreat.
A long-held dream of the Baccheschi Berti family, the transformation of the former watchtower took shape over a year and a half, bringing together the finest local artisans to craft this unique jewel. Hand-carved window frames and doors, Marmorino walls, French oak parquet, original terracotta and stone flooring, and bold black-and-white checkered marble create a sophisticated yet timeless atmosphere.
Every detail was thoughtfully curated to reflect the same passion, techniques, and craftsmanship that have defined Vicarello over the years.
“We wanted to create an extension of Vicarello,” the Baccheschi Berti family explains, “ensuring that guests feel the same warmth, authenticity, and attention to detail that they’ve come to expect from our home.”
Spanning 210 square meters across four elegantly appointed floors, Villa La Vedetta offers uninterrupted views of the castle and surrounding vineyards
The villa features two spacious suites with marble-clad en-suite bathrooms, each equipped with a freestanding copper bathtub and distinctive checkered marble floors.
The open-plan ground floor features a grand fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen that opens onto a private garden, ideal for both relaxation and entertaining.
Outside, the villa features 450 square meters of secluded gardens, a heated private swimming pool, and a rooftop terrace offering stunning sunset views.
Guests can also enjoy optional in-villa chef services, as well as full access to the estate’s award-winning facilities and curated experiences.
Blending the intimacy of a private home with the luxury of a boutique hotel, Villa La Vedetta delivers an exclusive and immersive escape – an elegant extension of Castello di Vicarello’s celebrated hospitality.
Rates for Villa La Vedetta start from €3,500 (approximately £2,950) based on two people sharing on a bed and breakfast basis. For more information, please visit www.castellodivicarello.com.
