Coworth Park's Dower House Reopens Following Thoughtful Renovation

Coworth Park, Dorchester Collection’s modern country house hotel in Berkshire, is reintroducing the Dower House this summer. The private three-bedroom residence, nestled within 240 acres of idyllic English countryside, has reopened following an interior restoration by celebrated British interior designer Martin Hulbert.

Originally built in 1775, the Grade II-listed Dower House is a Tudor-style, lime-rendered cottage steeped in history and character. First restored by Dorchester Collection in 2010, its latest transformation reflects a sense of place within the surrounding landscapes, through a palette of earthy tones, handwoven textiles, and richly layered natural materials.

The study

Tucked beside a quiet lake, framed by wildflowers and resident swans, the Dower House is designed as a restorative sanctuary for those seeking privacy, space and connection to nature. Within its walls, guests will find oak floors, open fires, handpicked furnishings and antique English craftsmanship elevated with modern comforts.

The interior of one of the three suites

The house features three ensuite bedrooms, a study and multiple generous living spaces, including The Nook, a new personal wine room stocked with sommelier-selected wines and spirits.

The private chef in the kitchen

The new kitchen features state-of-the-art Miele appliances and is fully equipped to accommodate both intimate dinners and indulgent meals prepared by a private chef.

Outside, the sun-drenched terrace and leafy gardens invite guests to enjoy long lunches and starlit suppers with views over the lake to the polo fields beyond. Every detail is crafted to feel both refined and familiar. The pantry can be pre-stocked, or guests may enjoy tailor-made menus, private cookery classes and alfresco barbecues in the sublime beauty of nature.

Whether celebrating with friends or escaping for a quiet retreat, the Dower House offers a deeply personal experience, blending timeless English charm with the warm hospitality of Coworth Park. Guests also enjoy access to the estate’s amenities, including the newly reopened Spa at Coworth Park, equestrian centre, and Michelin-starred restaurant Woven by Adam Smith.

The Dower House is now open for bookings, with seasonal rates starting from £5,000 (including VAT) per night, effective from June 1.
