Microblading at Laura Kay London

Microblading at Laura Kay London

What is it?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup achieved by manually inserting pigment into the outer layers of the skin. The end result is defined brows that look great all day long. It’s all about the natural look, with fine strokes that mimic real hair.

Who is it for?
Anyone who’s short on time and wants to wake up in the morning with perfect brows. It’s also great for anyone who’s visually impaired or might have lost their eyebrows during the ageing process or illness. And if you’re a gym-goer or love to swim, you’ll be happy to know that microbladed brows are smudge-proof.

Why do celebs love this treatment?
A-listers would have this treatment as they might feel pressured to look made-up 24/7. They’re looking to enhance their features with minimal effort.

Where did it originate from?
Tattooing began over 2,000 years ago, with the Incas, Mayans, Aztecs, Greeks and Egyptians. Historical figures such as “Cleopatra” are always pictured with signature dark eye makeup, creating a fashion and trend for that time. Even back then, tattooing makeup was used to create beauty and now through modern practices, we can create even the most subtle and natural enhancements, to make people feel empowered and confident.

How long does it take?
Around 90-120 minutes. Laura works quickly and with amazing precision. I’d anticipated hours in the chair but it took her under 60 minutes to transform my brows.

What does it feel like?
Scratchy, at first. But after a while, I got used to the pain. It’s bearable and worth it for the final results. Laura used a numbing cream which took the edge off.

What results can you expect?
Natural Enhancement. Immediately after your appointment, your eyebrows will be red and a little swollen. They’ll appear darker too. Then gradually, over two weeks, they’ll heal and the final result will appear. You may need to go for one or two top-up appointments after six weeks. Skin heals differently for everyone so some will hold onto the pigment better than others, depending on skin type and care, sun exposure and age.

How much does it cost?
Prices vary from £285-£495 depending on the area treated.

Is any maintenance required?
Most of Laura’s clients return once a year as the pigment fades over time.
