Last month I had the absolute privilege of attending the Goodwood Media Drive Day.
Eleven luxury car manufacturers were in attendance with both road and track cars. To say this was one of the most adrenaline-fuelled and thrilling days of my life is an understatement. Like a kid in a candy store, I leapt excitedly from one car to another – and was driven at 165mph in a Ferrari – before collapsing with the biggest grin of my life in the press area.
Brilliant, brilliant day Goodwood. Thank you so much.
Big thanks to the manufacturers
And a massive thank you to the following manufacturers whose cars I drove – or in the case of Lamborghini and Ferrari – was driven around the track. An unforgettable experience!
Aston Martin (Vantage and DB11), Bentley (Continental GT), Ferrari (812 Superfast), Ford (Mustang Bullitt), Lamborghini (Aventador SVJ), McLaren (720S), Maserati (Levante), Mercedes-Benz UK (Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe), Porsche (Crayon 718 Cayman GTS) and Rolls Royce (Phantom and Wraith Black Badge). Also in attendance was Honda which sadly I didn’t have time to drive.
Goodwood Motor Circuit
This restored track located in the picturesque Surrey Downs plays host to a multitude of motorsport events. Especially notable is the Goodwood Festival of Speed (Thursday 4 July to Sunday 7 July 2019). And the renowned Goodwood Revival which takes place 13th to 15th September 2019.
In addition to the track events, Goodwood also has an aerodrome with a dedicated flying school and offering flying experiences. And nearby there is horse racing at the famous course as well as golf at the Downs Course.
Home to the Duke and Duchess of Richmond, Goodwood House is just a few minutes’ drive from Goodwood Motor Circuit. Stop for a delicious afternoon tea, or even hold your wedding reception here. The estate boasts an extraordinary art collection open to the public.
