If you’d rather not subject yourselves to the current problems at UK airports, an excellent alternative is Great Fosters, the luxury Surrey estate. Its new ‘A Day in the Country’ package lets prospective guests swap the airport chaos and cancellations for an indulgent itinerary within fifty acres of iconic gardens and grounds.

The Great Fosters Estate near Windsor has just unveiled a brand new package that celebrates its rural charm and offers a relaxing alternative to the turbulence of international travel and fast-paced city living.

The ‘A Day in the Country’ package be with a Champagne welcome on the Terrace; guests will then spend a few hours at its Utopia retreat, with full access to its newly refurbished 1930s outdoor pool and hot tub. They can also soak up some sunshine on a reserved sun lounger until 5:00 pm.

If guests fancy something a little more energetic, an hour on its outdoor tennis court is also included in the day, with rackets and balls available. Or, if relaxation is the order of the day, guests can choose to go straight for a 55-minute ‘Best of Both’ treatment that includes a back, neck and shoulder massage within its specialist treatment rooms or as a couple in the estate’s medieval teepee.

Freshly made scones with cream and jam

At lunchtime, the hotel is then offering a two-course lunch by the pool or a picnic packed in a traditional wicker hamper to enjoy at one of its secluded picnic spots within the grounds. Finally, the country escape is rounded off with a cream tea at 5:00 pm on the terrace or in the Drawing Room or can be carefully packaged for guests to enjoy on the journey home.

The Great Fosters Estate is in Egham, conveniently located outside London — just a 30-minute train journey from Clapham or 40 minutes from Reading. With this in mind, the hotel also offers a complimentary taxi ride to and from Egham train station as part of the package. Alternatively, guests are invited to make their own way by car.

Prem Kumar, Hotel Manager at Great Fosters, commented: “With thousands of people on the receiving end of flight cancellations and delays and others just unable to get away, we wanted to create a package that really celebrates our estate. We are looking to offer a true escape to the country, with all the signature Great Fosters touches along the way. From a luxurious massage to a delectable cream tea, we want our guests to switch off and relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life — with some amazing facilities at their fingertips.”
