Grieb & Benzinger unveil the White Dragon Pavé produced for the Marcus Watch Store in London.

Grieb & Benzinger, the German-based makers of skeletonized watches, have produced a unique piece together with one of the most prestigious watch retailers: Marcus Watch Store in London’s Bond Street.

Within the watch industry, the Marcus Watch Store is known as a must visit place for unusual and unique collector’s watches. The store belongs to Marcus Margulies and dates back to the 1960s when Marcus’s father Alexander moved from Poland to England setting up a distribution network for inexpensive watches from the Soviet Union including Poljot and Raketa. This company was named Sekonda and evolved into the UK’s best-selling watch brand and the traditional starting point for many budding collectors fascinated by watches.

grieb-benzinger-white-dragon-pave-2The Marcus Watch Store markets itself as the home of the ‘Most important collection of watches in the World’ with a collection that includes Franck Muller, Piaget, Audemars Piguet, Girard-Perregaux, MB&F, Urwerk to name but a few and now, our friends at Grieb & Benzinger. The store has one of the rarest collections of vintage and antique timepieces in the world.

The White Dragon Pavé fascinates the eye right from the first glance with an unusual dial whose center comprises a hand-skeletonized, hand-engraved and hand-guilloché dragon surrounded by 369 fine Top Wesselton diamonds set in pavé style. The bezel is set with the finest square-cut, Princess-style diamonds. The brilliance of these fascinating diamonds is hardly to be described with mere words, and in the sunny home of the collector lucky enough to call the White Dragon Pavé his or her own, the owner will probably need sunglasses when looking at it.

The movement visible through the sapphire crystal case back is –as can and should be expected – a typical Grieb & Benzinger work of art. One look shows how filigreed the saw and graver tool were utilized to create the visible art: guilloché, skeletonization, and engraving done by hand as far as the eye can see.

Housed in a solid 43 mm case crafted in 18-karat palladium-white gold, the White Dragon Pavé once again proves to be a priceless eye-catcher that confirms the exclusivity of the watches originating in GRIEB & BENZINGER’s workshops, standing out in a market flooded with mass luxury. The meager amount of production of a maximum of 100 pieces per year, a result of the enormous technical range of manufacture accomplished by hand, makes these watches rare, exclusive and oh-so desirable for the collector.

The Diamond-set pave dial has 369 Top Wesselton diamonds, hand-skeletonized, hand-engraved and hand-guilloché applied dragon.
