Gulf Oil International (GOI), is celebrating another milestone in its long motor racing history after its motorsport partners Aston Martin Racing took a 1-2 victory in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) round in Shanghai on November 2nd.
In doing so, the Gulf-lubricated and liveried Aston Martin Vantage GTEs secured both the Team and Drivers World Titles in the 2014 WEC GTE Am category. It also marked Aston Martin’s 16th WEC win, putting it ahead of Ferrari, Porsche and Audi as the most successful manufacturer in championship history – every one of those wins having been achieved running on Gulf lubricants.
This Technical Partnership sees Gulf working Gulf in conjunction with Aston Martin’s factory race team to provide Engine and Gearbox Oils as well as Brake Fluid for its Vantage GTE cars competing on the world stage in Gulf’s famous Orange and Blue racing colours.
Gulf’s partnership with Aston Martin Racing is now in its seventh year and makes it the longest manufacturer racing partnership in Gulf’s motorsport history. Gulf has previously enjoyed success at world level with the likes of Ford, Porsche and Audi.
“This year we launched “Quality, Endurance and Passion” as Gulf’s core values and company brand line. Our partnership with Aston Martin Racing can, in many respects, be seen as the embodiment of this,” comments Jan Trocki, Vice President of Strategy, Gulf Oil International.
“To win in what is surely one of the toughest possible environments for lubricants demands products of the utmost quality. Gulf’s participation in Endurance Motorsport now stretches back almost half a century and is not only something that we as a company and a brand are passionate about, but it has also undoubtedly inspired a passion for the Gulf brand in countless enthusiasts, over the years, that make it unique amongst lubricant companies. We are truly proud to have helped secure Aston Martin Racing’s World Titles this year – on top of the GTE Am Drivers World Title won last year – and we are delighted to be able to say that Gulf lubricants have been a contributing factor to every one of its record-breaking 16 wins. Everyone at Gulf wishes to congratulate Aston Martin Racing on these amazing achievements.”
