For its 2025 London Design Festival partnership, Hart Shoreditch has announced a collaboration with transdisciplinary artist Rosie Reed Gold to create ‘Stage Left, Letter Pressed’, an exhibition that honours the written history of East London.
Based in East London, Rosie Reed Gold is a multimedia artist, poet and photographer. Having studied English and Philosophy, she shifted her focus towards collaborating with people from diverse fields and developed a deep interest in understanding the human mind.
Rosie’s studies are reflected in her work, and she employs a range of methods, including drawing, photography, and poetry, to explore and trace the transitional space between thought and action—the moment where integration is possible. Rosie is particularly interested in the role that collaboration and interactivity play in negotiating the boundaries of perception and encouraging connection between people.
The Hart Shoreditch partnership with Rosie began recently with her curated exhibition titled ‘Linger’ at the hotel, featuring photographs which explore the effect of light throughout the seasons.
The exhibition focuses on how people can become more familiar and even comfortable with the uncertainty that seasonal changes bring, seeing the beauty within them through observation and experiencing the seasons of change.
Rosie’s latest project, ‘Stage Left, Letter Pressed,’ created in partnership with Hart Shoreditch for the London Design Festival, will celebrate the written history of East London.
Inspired by Shoreditch’s historical connection to the Curtain theatre, where some of Shakespeare’s earlier plays, including Romeo and Juliet, were performed, as well as the craftsmanship of the Caslon Letterpress Foundry in Hackney Wick, this exhibition explores the cartography of language.
Involving installation, video, sound and interactive pieces, it is not just a show but a collaboration between the artist, the hotel, and its guests.
The exhibition showcases Hart Shoreditch’s ongoing commitment to supporting local artists and entrepreneurs and being a hub of creativity within London’s vibrant East End.
‘Stage Left, Letter Pressed’ at Hart Shoreditch will take place throughout September 2025. More details on the programme to follow shortly…
