After extensive research and development, Hästens has unveiled its first foray into bedroom furniture, and it’s a brand new collection in conjunction with the Swedish design duo Bernadotte & Kylberg.
The collection, which comprises two, bed benches and nightstands, follows in the footsteps of 2017’s internationally acclaimed Appaloosa and Marwari beds, which saw Bernadotte & Kylberg reimagine the luxury bedmaker’s iconic blue check through the abstract eyes of Cubism.
The new designs complement the Appaloosa and Marwari beds to form a perfect synergy for the whole bedroom.
Oscar Kylbeg, CEO of Bernadotte & Kylberg, says, “Our departure point was what we ourselves associate most with Hästens: a total unwillingness to compromise when it comes to quality and detail.
Design is so much more than colour and shape. It is also about sustainability – creating timeless products of high quality in a well thought out way.”
Like the beds, both nightstands represent the utmost dedication to craftsmanship.
Not falling short of Hästens’ commitment to detail, the ash intarsia pattern has been carefully laid by hand – influenced by the arrangement of the iconic blue check.
Inside, you will find a generous drawer, hand-fitted with cut dovetail joints, featuring practical dividers and smart leather detailing.
Formed to fit perfectly with each bed, the Appaloosa is finished in lighter tones with elegant black legs, while the Marwari is finished in walnut hues and brass legs.
Completing each look are the Appaloosa and Marwari bed benches, each marrying practicality with a refined aesthetic.
Like the Nightstand, these pieces are designed in an intricate intarsia pattern with corresponding legs. Inside lies spacious storage with clever sideways-moving drawers, complete with dividers to provide the ultimate organisation.
Oscar added, “We have a great collaboration with Hästens’ professional team, which is based on mutual respect and acceptance of each other’s wishes and thoughts.
Creating the furniture allowed us the opportunity to work with the pattern we made for Hästens in a new way – it’s always exciting to get to work with new forms.”
Produced by the renowned Tre Sekel in Tibro, Sweden, the furniture offers exquisite craftsmanship, carefully selected materials and a deep respect for sustainability.
