Hettie, a company that specialises in luxury clothing and accessories is enjoying enormous success by harnessing two significant consumer trends in the UK.

The Hettie brand was established in 2015 and manufactures a collection of high quality, coordinated clothing and accessories for dogs and their fashion conscious owners. The range is the brainchild of Sian Reekie, her son Tom and his wife Stephanie, who established the company when they saw an opportunity in the market to bring together durable and stylish pet clothing with high fashion bags and accessories for owners.

Sales of premium pet care products in the UK continue to rise and there’s an increasing choice of foods and accessories aimed at the more discerning pet owner. It’s expected that growth in consumer spending will continue to be driven by premiumisation rather than volume.

Dog children are becoming a bigger part of the family now, and people are willing to spend money on pampering them as they would themselves. Dog-friendly restaurants and hotels are on the increase, as are dogs at weddings and family occasions.

“We recognised that pet clothing was becoming a serious market. Our own research told us that a pet owner put the comfort and style of their pet on a par with their own. At the same time, brands like Joules which were previously associated closely with specific outdoor pursuits were beginning to grow in popularity as every day, high-end fashion labels. For us it was logical to focus on offering sartorial elegance and eye-catching design to dog and owner in one collection,” commented Sian.

The company has chosen to make their collection in the UK and support the craftsmen and women who make their products.

“There is a higher cost attached to this”, said Sian, “but we’re not making ‘throwaway fashion’, our mission is to make fresh, elegant and simple accessories here in Britain that our customers will want to keep forever”

The Hettie collection offers customers a choice of three different size bags with a phone, tablet and cosmetic cases to coordinate and each bag can be matched with a range of stylish dog coats, collars and leads and harnesses, ensuring that whether on four legs or two, our customers will be stepping out in style.

“We’ve created a completely new category from an idea started around the garden table one evening. We wanted to design and make a country inspired collection, and we knew that exceptional quality would be the key to our success. We came across the classic traditional fabrics produced by Abraham Moon and we knew that these would be perfect.”

Throughout the world, the Moon name has become synonymous with design and innovation and since 1837 their fabrics have continued to offer the assurance of luxurious quality, combining tradition, innovation and style.

The company has also announced its dedication to sustainability. The wool fabric has an incredible heritage and history and is made in one of the last vertical wooden mills in the UK.

Wool is kind to the environment – sustainable, natural and Ecofriendly and once finished, Hettie products don’t need to travel long distances, therefore, reducing their carbon footprint.
