An Incredible Experience Under Icelandic Skies in a Glass-fronted Lodge

See Iceland More Clearly Through Your Own Glass-fronted Lodge

Are you looking to do something unique and exciting in 2022? Why not head to the remote highlands of Southern Iceland for an incredible new travel experience from specialist travel company Off the Map Travel.

Just launched, this new itinerary allows you to soak up beautiful vistas from the comfort of a glass-fronted lodge before embarking upon a four-day privately guided tour of the surroundings, based 1.5 hours from Reykjavik. It is the first time this accommodation has been made available in a bespoke luxury travel itinerary.

The immersive four-day Panorama Glass Lodge Escape experience will let couples watch the stunning summer sun or the Northern Lights from their cosy, eco-friendly lodge. They will also have a private tour guide who will be on-hand to take them to nearby hotspots and restaurants to sample the best local food.

There are only four glass-domed lodges, each named after Norse mythology characters, which sit on this remote piece of land, providing the perfect opportunity to unwind in total privacy.

It is escapism at its finest with the panoramic views of the Icelandic arctic tundra, volcano Hekla and rivers of crystal-clear water.

Visitors will be collected from Iceland’s Keflavík Airport in a private jeep before the itinerary kick starts with a trip to the famous Golden Circle, ending your day at the exclusive lodge for the evening.

The self-catering accommodation sleeps two guests with a custom-made, king-sized bed.

Although all of the basic provisions are supplied, the private tour guide is available to take visitors to nearby shops where they can stock up on seasonal produce. Alongside the fully equipped kitchen, there is an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower and sustainable toiletries from Iceland’s own SÓLEY organics.

Each of the lodges has a private sauna and hot tub where visitors can relax and unwind, completely surrounded by nature after a day of discovering the area’s best attractions.

“These lodges are the epitome of escapism. The area is remote, meaning there is no light pollution, so it is the perfect spot for stargazing and appreciating the incredible midnight sun in summer and northern lights in winter,” Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel, said.

Eco electricity is supplied to each lodge, continuing the sustainability theme and ensuring that the lodges remain cosy and warm no matter what the weather. The nearby spring, which is regarded as one of the purest water sources in the world, supplies the lodges with fresh water.

“These exclusive panoramic lodges provide a totally unrivalled view of the landscape,” Cooper added: “This is the first time they have been included in a travel experience that brings together everything the guest needs from transfers to the best locally guided activities.

“For those looking for adventure followed by total relaxation, then this is the perfect experience combination.”

The four-day experience includes visiting ice caves on the South Coast, a snowmobile adventure at a glacier and a dip in the Blue Lagoon. The experience concludes with a trip to Iceland’s capital city Reykjavik.

On a self-catering basis, the four-day, three-night Panorama Glass Lodge Escape itinerary costs from £3199 per person, based on two people travelling, not including flights.

The itinerary includes privately guided tours in a luxury jeep throughout, two nights in luxury panoramic accommodation, one night’s hotel accommodation in Reykjavik, and all activities listed, with private guides who can tailor the itinerary based on the weather and time of year.

Visitors can choose to extend their trip, adding more nights at the lodges or picking an additional city break to finish off their trip. The Off the Map Travel team is happy to create something completely bespoke for each visitor.
