True to its historic roots located in an exceptional place between lake and forests in the Vallée de Joux, Jaeger-LeCoultre remains particularly concerned by and involved in the integration of its Manufacture within its natural environment.

Since July, observant visitors can spot ten hives newly installed in front of the entrance of the Grand Watchmaking House, or Grande Maison as it is known in French.

From now on, in addition to discovering the world of Swiss Fine Watchmaking, every visitor to the Manufacture will have the opportunity of tasting “Honey from the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre”.

The Grande Maison has decided to start its own production. Concerned about producing the best quality honey possible and with respecting biodiversity, Jaeger-LeCoultre called upon Franck Crozet, a professional bee keeper in the region, to install and take care of the ten hives set up in front of the Manufacture.

The aim of this initiative is to make visitors from all over the world, as well as the 1,200 employees, aware of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s commitment to preserving the environment. Bees play a key role in nature – by transporting pollen from flowers that they visit, they contribute to the reproduction of plant species. Today, they are a threatened species and this is a good opportunity for the Manufacture to give them a helping hand.

Making Time more Beautiful
For almost 180 years, the brand has watched over the environmental impact of its activities. Together with its employees and side by side with various personalities, it gets involved in many local and international activities. The Making Time more Beautiful project remains true to the moral heritage bequeathed by the founder of the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre, Antoine LeCoultre, conscious of the necessity for an adequate framework and infrastructures to ensure healthy growth for the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre.

In 2009, with the extension of the Manufacture, a new dimension was given to this project. Other basic initiatives were set up or improved, such as recycling and use of certified paper – as well as the creation of a bus transport system for employees, awarded the State of Vaud’s Prix de la Mobilité (Mobility Prize) in 2008.

On the international front, Jaeger-LeCoultre is a UNESCO partner and, in collaboration with the World Heritage Centre, has created the “Tides of Time” programme, dedicated to the preservation of endangered marine sites.
