KitchenAid has expanded its range of Artisan stand mixers with a new 5.6L bowl-lift model with an innovative new feature; an additional half-speed designed for folding, which makes batch cooking quicker and simpler.
Recently, we wrote an opinion piece on whether ultra-processed foods can ever be part of a healthy diet, and the conclusion was yes, but only in moderation. The best solution is to cook from scratch using healthy, unprocessed ingredients (time and budget allowing).
To do this, you need the right tools and one of the best in the market at providing these is KitchenAid. The company, which is the pioneer of stand mixers, has recently unveiled a new addition to its range called the Artisan 5.6L bowl-lift, and in this feature, we look at what it can do.
When people think of KitchenAid products, words that pop into their mind include quality, size and power. However, another key aspect of the company’s products is flexibility. The new stand-mixer has the same great features that made them essential in the kitchen, with an exciting new addition, a clever half-speed for folding.
Before fans of the Artisan stand-mixer range get worried that the company has re-invented the wheel, rest assured that the new Artisan 5.6L Stand Mixer features the original planetary actions found on previous models ensuring thorough mixing, perfect for biscuits, cupcakes, and pizza bases and bread.
In-store-bought bread is a ‘bugbear’ with us at the magazine. It was only earlier this year that we learned that ‘some’ of those delicious-smelling in-store supermarket bakeries are simply reheating bread made anything up to one year ago, with others using dyes to make the bread appear healthier.
Add to the ‘mix’ that you sometimes don’t know precisely what’s going into the bread, and the result is risking harming your microbiome, an essential component in keeping your body and mind healthy.
The only way to ensure that your eating ‘truly’ healthy produce, such as bread, is by making it yourself. We realise that kneading and folding take time and effort, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
The new half-speed on the Artisan 5.6L Stand Mixer is designed to mimic folding by hand. Another handy feature of the half-speed is it lets you add delicate ingredients during operation, such as egg whites and berries, without overbeating or knocking the air out of the batter.
The stand-mixer has a clever ‘soft start’ feature that starts the motor at a slower speed. From here, it will gently accelerate up to your desired setting, and it will do so without any splatter. It also has three-point locking for the bowl, which keeps everything super-stable when you need to mix at higher speeds.
The KitchenAid Artisan 5.6L Stand Mixer comes with standard stainless steel accessories, including a silver-coated flat beater, a uniquely designed spiral dough hook which replicates hand kneading, a six-wire whip, a brushed stainless steel 5.6L Bowl with an ergonomic handle and secure fit pouring shield.
Users can expand their cooking and baking options with a range of fifteen dishwasher-safe extras, which attach via the culinary club. The optional extras extend the stand-mixer’s capabilities to mincing, grating and slicing; it can also chop, peel, juice and spiralling, along with adding the option to sift and weigh.
As you would expect from a KitchenAid stand mixer, it is made with sturdy die-cast metal and has even more power over previous models, more control and capacity, which makes it the ideal kitchen companion for those wanting to make more!
