Design Series Blossom, KitchenAid's New 4.8L Artisan Tilt-Head Stand Mixer

KitchenAid has unveiled its latest addition to its high-quality range of appliances. It’s called the Design Series Blossom Artisan Tilt-Head 4.8L Stand Mixer, and in this article, we’ll look at what this lovely-looking culinary workhorse has to offer.

Stand mixers have been with us for over a century, and KitchenAid sits rights up there as the best in the business regarding mixers for the home. Almost every ‘serious’ home baker knows the KitchenAid name, and if you were to ask them what the company’s calling card is, they would probably say (aside from quality) bright but straightforward colour schemes, most likely red. However, the Design Series Blossom Artisan 4.8L Tilt-Head Stand Mixer is a little different.

Since 1955, KitchenAid has been refining kitchens with their smart-looking range of products, which have become somewhat iconic thanks to the colours they come in coupled with plain stainless steel bowls. For 2022, their innovative design team have decided to push the boat out as their new Series Blossom comes in a soft thyme green with a velvety satin finish. That’s not what excites us; it’s the fact that it has been paired with a hammered copper bowl, which truly elevates it in the ‘looks stakes’.

Lots of thought has been put into the look of this mixer. For example, contrasting with the body’s thyme green finish is a trim band which is a shade lighter and decorated with botanical illustrations. These and its petaled hub cover were all inspired by the array of herbs and edible flowers in kitchens worldwide.

Going back to the Design Series Blossom’s copper bowl, KitchenAid has informed us that over time, the bowl will develop a unique patina, which you can either embrace or restore to how it originally looked with some hand washing and buffing with a duster.

At a time when the world is trying to cope with rising costs, our view is if you are going to invest in something, make sure you purchase something that will last. KitchenAid’s new mixer is made with sturdy die-cast metal, and its design makes it very stable. The looks, engineering and quality make it the right buy for home bakers who want something they know will last and do the required job.
