Morocco's La Mamounia is Back on the Travel Agenda from February 2022

From the 7th February 2022, Morocco will be back on the travel agenda for Brits seeking some hot weather and a liberal dose of culture and history. The resumption of flights means that the colourful, evocative and vibrant city of Marrakech and its Grand Dame, La Mamounia, will once more be inspiring travellers, dreamers, romantics and wanderers.

La Mamounia has recently undergone an extensive renovation that preserved its original character, heritage, and signature architecture ahead of its upcoming centenary. By doing this, they’ve created new guest experiences, including a private cinema, reimagined bar spaces and new restaurants in partnership with celebrated chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Pierre Hermé.

A couple dining in one of the restaurants in the hotel

One of the world’s most recognised and respected chefs, Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, will oversee a brand-new Asian restaurant, L’Asiatique par Jean-Georges. On offer here will be mouthwatering dishes from South Asia. In addition to this, Chef Jean-Georges will also be taking the helm of the hotel’s much-beloved L’Italien Restaurant.

Near the Galerie Mamounia, guests will now find the Salon de théby international pastry chef, Pierre Hermé, serving breakfast, afternoon tea and gastronomic snacks.

Le Bar Majorelle, named after the renowned Jacques Majorelle, a French orientalist painter and lover of Marrakech, has introduced a new menu of elevated French cuisine, adding to the sophisticated nature of this much-beloved social space.

Inside the Churchill Bar

The sought-after intimacy and seclusion of La Mamounia’s historic Churchill Bar remain with the addition of some extra enhancements. The 20-seat bar now offers guests the opportunity to taste La Mamounia’s special Caviar Maison, which has been made specifically for the hotel from the oldest caviar factory in Paris, Kaviari.

Inside the 20 seat private cinema

Additional new experiences in this garden sanctuary include a new underground wine bar, L’Oenothèque, where up to 12 guests can sample selected grand cru wines or dine surrounded by more than 2,000 bottles of wine, and a new 20-seat private cinema for hotel guests to view movie classics or new releases.

Abercrombie & Kent is offering a three-night stay at La Mamounia from £1,499pp based on two people sharing Superior Room. Includes flights, transfers and room only.
