Following the success of their collaboration in November 2024, the masterminds behind Michelin-recommended Leela and Michelin-starred Yong Fu Hong Kong will once again combine their culinary prowess for a collaborative event on the 8th and 9th of April, with a core focus on Spring-time ingredients.
Round two will build upon the acclaim of their first event; the menu will again showcase all-new and fully collaborative dishes crafted by chefs and now close friends Manav Tuli and Liu Zhen, who have formed a deep friendship through their culinary journey together.
The collaboration will see the merging of Indian and Chinese cuisines, celebrating diversity, creativity, and a rich culinary interplay between these two cultures. The Silk Road, an ancient network of trade routes connecting the East and the West, once facilitated cultural exchanges, including the sharing of food traditions.
Indian spices like cumin, cardamom, and pepper journeyed along these routes to China, leaving a lasting influence on Chinese cuisine. Moreover, Indian Chinese cuisine carries a significant legacy in Indian culture, with its origins dating back to the 1700s when Chinese immigrants adapted their traditional flavours to cater to Indian palates.
The Menu
Priced at HK$1,888 + 10% per guest, the Leela x Yong Fu Hong Kong menu will feature all brand-new dishes, except for the dessert course that will be familiar to guests from Round 1. Both restaurants have contributed equally in crafting each unique course, harmonising the bold flavours of Indian spices with the intricate techniques of Ningbo cuisine.
“I am again delighted to work closely with my Chinese brother, Chef Liu, on this event. I have learnt so much from Chef Liu since our last collaboration, which has inspired me to explore new ingredients and techniques for our dishes at Leela. It’s crazy to be completely overhauling the collaboration menu from Round 1, but no pain, no gain, and we hope all our guests will be just as excited as we are.” says Chef Manav Tuli of Leela.
This upcoming event promises a gastronomic adventure that honours the historical roots and contemporary expressions of Indian and Chinese cuisines in an unforgettable two-night dining event, fusing the flavours of India and Ningbo, China. For reservations, please contact both restaurants directly.
