MELT St Nicholas With A Golden Halo
MELT’s smooth Christmas confections keep the faith and have been inspired by the splendours of Byzantium (Istanbul), where east meets west. Byzantium is the homeland of key modern conventions of Christmas. Did you know that Saint Nicholas, or Santa Claus was Bishop of Myra during the 4th century? Well, Saint Nicholas gave gold coins to three girls to enable them to marry. To celebrate this act of anonymous generosity from which the story of Christmas developed, this Notting Hill based chocolatier has crafted a chocolate figurine of St Nicholas with a pure 22-carat gold coin as part of his halo.
We also love the Byzantine Boxes, which are filled with glittering edible jewels – a nod to the Topkapi Palace, Istanbul. Flavours include blackberry and hazelnut, cranberry and raspberry leaf and orange and aniseed.
Charbonnel Et Walker Christmas Boite Rouge
One of Britain’s earliest chocolatiers, Charbonnel Et Walker is also endorsed by a royal warrant to supply its goodies to Her Majesty The Queen. The Boite Rouge has been a firm favourite since 1909 and we’re sure that there is a positively good reason why. This rich velvet red coloured box is filled with an assortment of milk and dark chocolates, making it the ideal party centrepiece and gift idea. Attractively covered and moulded chocolates feature a range of different centres, each decorated with signature swirls, or delicately placed nuts or decorations. Scrumptious.
