Market Row Botanical Rum is Straight Talking, Inclusive and Made in Brixton

Market Row Botanical Rum is Straight Talking, Inclusive and Made in Brixton

London has a Micro Distillery based in Brixton, which is producing a taste of the Caribbean. Taking its name from the Market nearby, the company has created Market Row Botanical Rum.

I usually drink white rum flavoured with coconut as the dark rums I have tasted previously have been sickly sweet, almost like burnt caramel. Market Row Rum is light, golden in colour with floral notes. Aromas of dark chocolate and oak fill your nose before a smooth and warming taste as you take your first sip. I tasted a caramelised banana sweetness and a dry, vanilla finish. It had me hooked as I drank more.

Laurent Lacassagne and Londoner Patrick Venning, former Pernod Ricard executives, have combined their fifty-plus years of spirits expertise to launch Market Row Botanical Rum. Combining their passion and experience, they have produced a super-premium rum from a Micro-Distillery.

Laurent and Patrick teamed up with craft distiller Matt Servini to bring their vision for this exceptional new botanical rum to life. They have brought in Mikey Hirsch with his skills as a Bartender as the Brand Ambassador.

Laurent Lacassagne, Co-Founder, “We believe the market is ripe for a new, straight-talking and inclusive urban rum.” “We want to bring something new to the category-creating the same levels of craft, creativity and inclusivity to rum that is now seen in gin and feel we’re the right team to take on that challenge.”

Market Row Botanical Rum’s creators are committed to supporting and sharing everything they love about Brixton’s unique spirit – where dynamic culture and community fuse together.

Patrick Venning, Co-Founder, Brixton Distillery Company, “Market Row Botanical Rum is inspired by the community where it’s crafted. We’re working to support independent Brixton businesses and people by sourcing ingredients and skills locally wherever possible to keep our ‘Brixton-Bottled’ botanical rum authentic and give something back to the community.”

The botanicals used in Market Row Rum create a genuine difference, something unique, giving it a different dimension to other rums on sale. They are crafted using a blend of five exceptional aged pot still rums from the finest distilleries in Jamaica and aged in ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 40% abv and re-distilled in Brixton London with an initial production of 1,500 bottles.

Many of the aged rums in the blend are award-winning within their own right, and Market Row Botanical Rum is made without any additional sugar, flavourings or colourings.

The rum in its clear glass bottle

Market Row Botanical Rum is pleasant to drink neat and equally good mixed with coke or lemonade. I wish I had tried it with pineapple as that is my go-to when drinking white rum. I would imagine it would taste great. I would undoubtedly choose to drink it again and recommend it to rum lovers such as my friends down my cricket club.
