Microplane is the pioneer of photo-etched graters, and perhaps the company’s most famous creation is its Premium Classic Zester, which has been a mainstay of cooks for more than a quarter of a century. For 2022, Microplane has decided to reinvigorate its iconic product by introducing a range of new urban, earthy colours.

The Premium Classic Zester by Microplane is one of those special kitchen utensils that has proven to be indispensable for professional Chefs, TV cookery show hosts and passionate home cooks worldwide. What separates Microplane’s products from others is that their zesters are incredibly effective when it comes to doing what they are primarily designed for and always produce the desired result.

For 2022, the company has decided to invigorate their classic by introducing a new range of subtle, warm and earthy colours that draws inspiration from minimalistic, harmonic Scandinavian design. The new colours completely replace the original range of colours, except for the highly popular classic black and white colours.

The Microplane Story
Twenty-eight years ago, a Canadian housewife decided she wanted to make an orange cake at her home. Armed only with a traditional grater, she soon became frustrated and headed into her husband’s workshop to find something better. She waded through his tools and eventually found something. After giving it a thorough clean, she tried the bladed instrument on the orange, and it slid across effortlessly with zest falling like snowflakes minus the bitter pith. This chance discovery laid the foundation of the Microplane zesters loved around the world today.

What makes Microplane’s graters different?
What separates Microplane’s zesters from the pack is the innovative photo-etching process they developed. The process they innovated produces ultra-sharp cutting edges that allow the zester to glide over various food items, including hard cheeses, parmesan, citrus fruits, chocolate, nutmeg, garlic and ginger, without fuss every time. And, of course, they produce the desired result.

There are 400 miro-teeth on every Premium Classic Grater, and these ensure that there is no shredding, blocking or tearing, resulting in perfect results every time. As a premium and sharp product, you’ll be pleased to know that they come with a case allowing you to pop it in a draw with peace of mind.

They also benefit from anti-scratch end caps to protect worktops, plates and boards when grating horizontally. The Microplane zesters are also dishwasher safe; however, a good rinsing under water is recommended by the company, and this is usually enough to clean them.

Microplane is known for its high-quality and exceptionally effective, sharp culinary tools. The company is constantly innovating and experimenting to improve its range of products to ensure they continue to offer the best graters in the market today.

The new colours add even more style to the iconic zester and are available from www.hartsofstur.com.
