Kicking off on World Vegetarian Day is National Vegetarian Week, which in 2025 takes place from October 1st to 7th. It is an annual celebration of fantastic vegetarian food, and many well-known names are already gearing themselves up for seven days of delicious vegetarian treats.
National Vegetarian Week is perfect timing for those with post-summer holiday aspirations, when travel and relaxation allow time for reflection and often the desire to make positive lifestyle changes. The run-up will start in late August with a flow of top tips, veggie news and inspiration.
National Vegetarian Week 2025 will also provide an ideal platform for businesses, restaurants, supermarkets, and brands to promote vegetarian products, menus, and offers, which will be featured on social media.
Celebrities helping to share the veggie message include Chris Packham, Dame Joanna Lumley, Olympic open-water marathon swimmer Hector Pardoe, comedian and writer Dave Spikey, and Sunday Times bestselling author Cathy Cassidy. With this growing support, National Vegetarian Week 2025 is set to make a significant impact.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, the founder of River Cottage and author of ‘How To Eat 30 Plants a Week’, said, “Deliver more deliciousness to your plate this National Vegetarian Week. It’s a wonderful opportunity to have fun and experiment with some tasty and exciting new recipes and to eat more glorious vegetables! Good for you and good for the planet.”
There will be a free digital booklet stuffed with delicious recipes from best-selling chefs and authors, including plant-based legends BOSH!, MasterChef finalist Jackie Kearney, and Great British Menu contestants Minal Patel and Eddie Shepherd, not to mention Meera Sodha, Katy Beskow, Rukmini Iyer…and many more!
National Vegetarian Week has been run by the Vegetarian Society since 1992.
Louise Goodwin, Campaigns and Advocacy Manager at the Vegetarian Society, said, “Join us this National Vegetarian Week 2025 for delicious recipes, veggie cooking tips and fabulous activities that will inspire everyone to try marvellous meat-free dishes. And let’s get more plates packed with amazing veggie meals.”
