Newmarket and Juddmonte Announce 2018 Frankel Tours with Special Tour Guide

Meet The World's Greatest Racehorse, Frankel On A Very Special Tour

Tourism hub for the Home of Horseracing, Discover Newmarket along with partners Juddmonte Farms has announced its 2018 Frankel Tours and a very special tour guide for the season.

This year’s tours come with something special in the form of a new guide for the summer, the wife of the late Sir Henry Cecil, the trainer of Frankel, and Lady Jane Cecil herself.

This partnership sees Discover Newmarket delivering five exclusive full-day tours to members of the public on the 10th and 30th of July, the 30th of August, and the 4th and 20th of September.

Lady Jane Cecil will be hosting Discover Newmarket tours to see Frankel at Banstead Manor Stud, home of Juddmonte Farms’ European operation. Her involvement will continue the link she and her husband, Sir Henry Cecil, forged with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) during Frankel’s racing career, with a proportion of each ticket price being donated to EACH.

She will also be joined by her sister Sally Noseda, who has worked in racing alongside top-class horses for the majority of her life. Sally spent around 20 years working for Sir Michael Stoute and rode top fillies such as Musical Bliss and Russian Rhythm. She was also part of the Warren Place team during the Frankel era.

Juddmonte Farms is one of the world’s leading breeders, and to date, bred over 100 individual Group/Grade 1 winners of over 200 Group/Grade 1 races, including 25 Classic winners.

One of its homebred champions is fourth-generation Enable, who in 2017 won five Gr.1 races – including the Oaks and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Juddmonte’s European stallion operation at Banstead Manor Stud is home to Frankel, Bated Breath, Kingman, Dansili and Oasis Dream.

Lady Jane Cecil said: “I am pleased to work with Discover Newmarket on their programme of events for 2018. The town is a special place and I hope I can help to give an insight into it to visitors, especially those interested in Frankel and Warren Place.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside my sister Sally, who has so much experience of racing at the highest level, primarily through her long association with Sir Michael Stoute’s stable.

“I am also hoping my involvement will raise funds for EACH. Henry felt it was an important charity to support, and I couldn’t agree more. I am a big fan of one of their ambassadors – Frankel – who I am looking forward to seeing again this summer.”

Megan Pollexfen, Manager of Discover Newmarket, said: “We’ve always been proud to partner with Juddmonte, and 2018 offers something really very special to racing fans and Frankel lovers alike, with Lady Cecil acting as an extension of our team for the Summer Season.

We’re so grateful to both Juddmonte for their continued support of Discover Newmarket and especially to Lady Cecil and Sally for dedicating their time this summer to host this series of exclusive experiences.

“We hope to invite even more visitors to Newmarket to meet the legend of the flat, Frankel, this year and look forward to showcasing all our town has to offer to members of the public from across the UK and the globe.”

Discover Newmarket’s tour packages are available for all who are interested in discovering more about the intriguing history, heritage and culture of the racing, breeding and training industry, as well as Newmarket itself.

The Frankel Tours will begin at 9 am, and visitors will travel to the famous Warren Hill gallops to see some of the thousands of racehorses in Newmarket in training.

Following this, the tour will experience a behind-the-scenes experience at a top Newmarket trainer’s yard. Visitors will then enjoy a sumptuous three-course lunch at one of Newmarket’s fine-dining restaurants.

Then it’s onto the main event, a tour of the stallion unit at Banstead Manor Stud with Lady Cecil and meeting Frankel himself, as well as the opportunity to see some of the other top sires that call the stud home.

This a real must for equestrian and racing lovers alike. Spaces are available at £175 per person and are limited, so visitors are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.

In addition to this full-day experience, Juddmonte will be offering the public a series of afternoon visits hosted by the Juddmonte team themselves; prices starting from £65 per person with a children’s ticket price option available.
