For over a decade, NOMOS Glashütte has supported Doctors Without Borders by releasing limited-edition watches to raise funds for the organisation. The German watchmaking company has now introduced a new limited-edition version of its most classic model.
A new year has just begun, yet for millions worldwide, it is again marked by the effects of crises, conflicts, and natural disasters. Wherever these challenging circumstances emerge, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Doctors Without Borders provides emergency medical care to those in need.
Since 2012, NOMOS Glashütte has dedicated a series of limited-edition timepieces to supporting the work of Doctors Without Borders, raising over 1.3 million euros to date.
Making a Statement
Now, this collaboration continues with the classic model Ludwig. Distinctive in its design, this special edition watch from NOMOS Glashütte bears elegant hallmarks of the partnership with Doctors Without Borders.
A red XII on an enamel-white dial symbolises the urgency of humanitarian aid and honours the tireless work of the organisation’s teams worldwide.
This elegant automatic watch is available in two sizes, 36.4 and 38.5 millimetres in diameter, with each version strictly limited to 250 pieces.
A small inscription at 6 o’clock reads “Ärzte ohne Grenzen,” as Doctors Without Borders is known in Germany. And the best part of all: This limited edition is intended to raise 125,000 euros for the German office of the humanitarian aid organisation.
Helping Where Hardly Anyone Else Is
“Larger sums that are not tied to a specific purpose make our work easier to plan and also enable us to help in crisis areas that are not widely reported in the media,” says Christian Katzer, Executive Director of Doctors Without Borders Germany. “125,000 euro could help provide therapeutic food to treat 4,460 acutely malnourished children—for example, in northern Nigeria and Sudan, where we provide vital emergency aid in response to severe nutritional crises.”
A Sign of Solidarity
This watch is more than a timepiece; it is a sign of solidarity. With every purchase, wearers acquire a valuable example of German watchmaking and directly contribute to life-saving missions in more than 70 countries around the world.
For over 50 years, Doctors Without Borders has provided essential support to people in acute crisis situations, operating independently and impartially, irrespective of race, gender, or political affiliation.
NOMOS Glashütte is extremely proud to be among the few companies meeting Doctors Without Borders’ rigorous standards for transparency and sustainability. This ensures a partnership built on integrity and shared values.
