Penrhos Spirits, the award-winning gin distillery situated in Herefordshire on the Welsh border, is launching a nationwide search for its first “Chief Gin Taster” in what might be Britain’s most spirited job opportunity of 2025.
The remote position offers the successful candidate exclusive access to unreleased Penrhos gins and the chance to shape the future flavours of this award-winning innovative craft spirits brand.
“We’re looking for the next ‘Ginfluencer’ – someone with a refined palate and a genuine passion for craft gin,” says Penrhos Spirits co-founder Harriet Evans. “Our Chief Gin Taster will play a crucial role in helping to develop new flavours for our ever-expanding portfolio and ensuring each one meets our exacting standards.”
The unique position requires no formal qualifications beyond a sophisticated palate and enthusiasm for craft spirits. Successful candidates will receive:
- First access to sample and review new gin varieties before public release
- Direct input into future gin flavour development
- The opportunity to join the distinguished “Penrhos family” of craft gin experts
- A complimentary case of Gin over the year.
The role, open to UK residents aged 25 and over, comes as the gin maker continues to grow within the craft gin category with a permanent listing in Sainsbury’s in over 400 stores for both – London Dry and Wonky Raspberry variants.
Penrhos gin is made from imperfectly perfect fruit from the family farm that would otherwise go to waste and cannot be sold to supermarkets.
The gin comes in 100% recycled aluminium bottles, which cut the carbon footprint by 91%, providing consumers with a more sustainable option to glass bottles.
“Being our Gin Taster isn’t just about tasting gin – it’s about helping shape the future of our portfolio of craft spirits,” adds Harriet. “We’re looking for individuals who can distinguish subtle flavour notes, can suggest new and unique flavours and aren’t afraid to provide honest, detailed feedback.”
