PoB Hotels, the leading collection of independent luxury hotels across the UK, has welcomed three new members to its prestigious portfolio: Matfen Hall in Northumberland, Mallory Court in Warwickshire, and Penmaenuchaf in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.
Each brings a strong regional identity, significant recent investment, and a deep commitment to personalised guest experiences — qualities that define the PoB Hotels brand.
Founded in 1982, PoB Hotels has long celebrated independent hotels that are deeply rooted in their locations. But it is the brand’s recent transformation — including a refined brand identity, elevated quality standards, and a more strategic membership framework — that has solidified its place as the go-to collective for independent luxury hotels in the UK.
Membership is highly selective, with hotels undergoing a thorough assessment and annual inspections to ensure they meet the exceptional quality expected across design, service, and guest experience. The independent nature of every member property remains essential, ensuring each delivers a bespoke, regionally grounded experience that reflects the character of its setting.
PoB Hotels is not just a mark of prestige; it is a strategic move. Membership offers access to targeted marketing, meaningful brand partnerships, and a growing community of loyal, high-net-worth travellers seeking individuality, authenticity, and elevated service. What underscores the value of the membership is seeing existing members choose to bring additional properties into the collection, a testament to the tangible benefits and visibility PoB Hotels provides.
For instance, Bovey Castle, part of the Eden Hotel Collection, has been a longstanding PoB member and has now brought its sister property, Mallory Court, into the fold. Similarly, The Grove of Narberth, already a successful member, has welcomed Penmaenuchaf into the collection as its second PoB hotel — a clear sign of the impact PoB membership has on brand profile and commercial success.
Kalindi Juneja, CEO of PoB Hotels, said, “We are delighted to welcome Matfen Hall, Mallory Court, and Penmaenuchaf into the PoB Hotels family. Each has shown a deep dedication to delivering best-in-class hospitality through investment, innovation, and respect for their local heritage. More than ever, independent hotels are seeking strategic alignment with a brand that elevates their visibility without diluting their individuality. That’s what PoB Hotels offers — a platform built on quality, character, and community.”
Meet the Newest Members of PoB Hotels:
Matfen Hall, Northumberland
Situated in 300 acres of parkland in the heart of Northumberland, luxury hotel and country estate Matfen Hall offers 63 refined rooms, a championship golf course, award-winning dining, and a luxurious spa. A multi-million-pound restoration of the Great Hall, alongside a new bar, golf clubhouse and dining spaces, has positioned it as Northumberland’s first and only five-star hotel.
James O’Donnell, Head of Commercial Development, said, “Joining PoB Hotels marks a significant step for Matfen Hall. It’s a brand that truly understands the value of heritage, independent spirit, and guest excellence. Our partnership will allow us to connect with a broader luxury audience while showcasing the charm and appeal of Northumberland.”
Mallory Court Hotel and Spa, Warwickshire
Part of the Eden Hotel Collection and now joining its sister property Bovey Castle in the PoB Hotels portfolio, Mallory Court is a four AA Red Star country house hotel in Leamington Spa. A recent £1.5 million refurbishment of the manor house bedrooms brings together heritage, nature-inspired design, and contemporary comfort.
The hotel also features the 3 AA Rosette Dining Room and new Asian-inspired restaurant Sencha at the Elan Spa.
Mark E Chambers FIH MI, Group Managing Director of the Eden Collection, commented, “We’re delighted to bring Mallory Court into the PoB Hotels family alongside Bovey Castle. The brand’s recognition of quality and individuality makes it the perfect partner for independent hotels like ours. We’re confident this will support our continued growth and visibility.”
Penmaenuchaf, Eryri National Park
Part of the Seren collection and now a sister property to PoB Hotels member The Grove of Narberth, Penmaenuchaf (lead image and shown below) is a characterful country retreat perched above the Mawddach estuary in Eryri (Snowdonia).
A recent design-led refurbishment with Nicola Harding has transformed bedrooms and communal spaces, including the new “Mynydd (Mountain)” Lounge Bar. The interiors honour the house’s adventurous spirit while delivering luxurious comfort in a dramatic mountain setting.
Neil Kedward, Owner and CEO of Penmaenuchaf, said, “Joining PoB Hotels is such a meaningful milestone for Penmaenuchaf and the team. Following in the footsteps of the Grove of Narberth, we’ve seen firsthand the value of being part of this community of Great British Hotels. PoB Hotel’s platform and commitment to quality provide the perfect springboard to showcase our refreshed offering and the wonder of Eryri.”
With the addition of these three outstanding properties, PoB Hotels continues to elevate luxury hospitality in the UK. Each new member exemplifies what sets PoB Hotels apart: deep regional identity, meticulous quality, and the independent spirit that ensures every guest’s stay is personal, memorable, and reflective of its surroundings.
