Aptly named ‘A Nostalgic Celebration’, the special promotional menu offers the obligatory Yee Sang or Prosperity Toss, which consists of Fresh Fruits and Garden Greens with a choice of toppings such as Fresh Salmon, Fresh Tuna, Scallop Lips, Jelly Fish, Sea Urchin, Tempura Prawns or Crispy Whitebait all mixed with Red’s very own homemade sauces.

Additions such as Black Truffle, Abalone, Crispy Soft Shell Crab, and Crispy Fish Skin are also available for those who wish to add a little je ne sais quoi to this auspicious dish.

With three special Lunar New Year Set Menus – the Spring & Happiness Set, the Prosperity Set and the Wealth & Fortune Set, this dramatically decorated eatery is the perfect place for the traditional family gathering or reunion dinner on the eve of Chinese New Year of the first day of the Lunar New Year.

Some of the more noteworthy dishes, as recommended by Chef Mak, are the Double Boiled Sea Whelk Soup with Matsutake Mushrooms with Winter Melon and Conpoy, Stir-fried Mantis Shrimp with Fish Roe and Asparagus, Scrambled Egg White with Tomatoes and Bamboo Fungus; Fujian Style Seafood Fried Rice with Whole Abalone and Pan-Fried Chinese Pudding and Sweet Purple Potato.

Vegetarian options are available for both the Yee Sang dish as well as for the set menus and there are three private dining rooms if you wish to dine in exclusivity.

Decorated with Chinese lanterns and cherry blossoms, there is also a grocery or provision store which harks back to the 1970s as a pop-up in the hotel’s lobby to complement the retro-themed promotion.

Available from the 4th of January to the 19th of February, Red Chinese Restaurant remains open on the eve of Chinese New Year and throughout the 15-day celebration. A lion dance is planned, as well as a giant Yee Sang Prosperity Toss on the 12th of February.
