More than a building, Qianhai Times Spring Culture and Art Center is a living, breathing poem set against the vibrant backdrop of Shenzhen, designed to nurture the soul and spark reflection through art and architecture.
At the vibrant heart of China’s Greater Bay Area stands the Qianhai Times Spring Culture and Art Center, a captivating 5,000 square metre sanctuary where architecture becomes poetry. Designed by METROPOLITAN DESIGN alongside YANG & ASSOCIATES GROUP, the space invites visitors into a world where the boundaries between art and life blur beautifully.
The core narrative, “Circle – Garden,” is more than a theme—it is the soul of the Chunquan space. The “circle” represents infinity, an endless flow without beginning or end, while the “garden” speaks to inclusiveness and harmony. Together, these ideas shape a sanctuary where nature and human spirit coalesce, crafting an experience that transcends traditional architecture.

Inspired by the Möbius strip—an elegant mathematical symbol of infinity and eternal cycles—this design effortlessly twists and turns through space and time. Each curve and beam of light feels alive, embodying a continuous ascent and renewal.
This isn’t just a building; it feels like a living entity, echoing the philosophy of Shenzhen Metro Properties: “Building Cities with Original Aspiration, Connecting to a Better Life.”

From the moment you enter, an egg-shaped sculpture in the lobby captures your gaze, symbolising life’s seed of possibility. Light dances softly overhead, conjuring a universe of energy and promise that permeates the entire centre.
Stepping further inside, the textures and materials sing a duet—Afghan green jade’s clarity meets the enduring solidity of Brazilian Versace Black marble. Nearby, blue diamond jade sparkles beneath sparkling crystals, evoking an intimate galaxy that invites quiet reflection in a space that feels like a silent poem.

Soft lines and fluid forms in the interior speak the language of nature’s pulse, with ceilings that float like clouds and a rammed earth dome that hints at spiritual loftiness, balanced by the hopeful flicker of jade “spark of fire” beneath your feet.
In the “Interstellar Cruise” area, celestial orbits trace the ceiling, symbolising humanity’s place within the grand cosmos, reminding visitors of the delicate balance between the vast and the intimate.

Every corner tells a story: the negotiation space borrows the strength and leadership symbolism of an aircraft carrier’s forward cabin, whilst the furniture, drawn from Italian and American maestros, balances noble elegance with warm restraint.
As daylight fades, the centre transforms—mist drifts gently, moss softens the edges, and screens conjure an evocative mountain forest in the bustling heart of Shenzhen. A golden curve weaves through the space like a subway line, connecting spiritual stations marked by the rhythm of solar terms such as “Beginning of Spring” and “Grain Rain,” infusing Eastern philosophy into contemporary design.
Here, the essence of abstract philosophy becomes tangible, with spaces for quiet tea ceremonies, elegant socialising, and refined rituals that soothe as much as inspire.
The Qianhai Times Spring Culture and Art Center is not just a building; it is a living poem, where architecture, nature, and humanity converse in an eternal dance—a space that invites both contemplation and connection, aspiring to lift the spirit while grounding us deeply in the moment.
