Reena Patel Visits the Newly Launched MGallery Molitor Luxury Parisian Hotel

When we heard about the new opening of hip hotel MGallery Molitor, we were enticed by its rediscovered 1920s outdoor swimming pool and close proximity to the internationally renowned Roland Garros tennis stadium.

However, we quickly discovered that this contemporary-chic boutique bolthole offers so much more to enjoy the Parisian art of living than first meets the eye.

Swim
MGallery-Molitor-Luxury-Parisian-Hotel-2Playing a pivotal role to its luxurious appeal, MGallery Molitor boasts an impressively large outdoor swimming pool (stretching out across 46 metres in length), which is heated to a cosy 28 degrees Celsius all year round. Originally opened in 1929, it remained as the most popular swimming baths in Paris for 60 years and closed in 1989 to be hailed as a listed building. Soon after, the site was converted into an urban underground playground for artists to display their street art. Today, art deco design meets street art to influence an eclectic modern interior at Hotel Molitor, such as the decorative use of stained glass salvaged from the bygone era.

The outdoor ‘summer’ pool itself remains a focal feature at the property, where most of the guest rooms (there are 104 and 20 suites in total) encircle the swim space on all four sides to face the view from higher up above. Sun loungers line up along the poolside and mustard yellow walls create a striking sunshine shade of contrast against the white enclosure and bright blue water.

It’s also worth a mention that the hotel also has another well sized indoor pool for you to take a leisurely dip, or lane swim in and there is a health club membership available for locals to make use of its two pools and gym facilities.

Sip (and dine)
MGallery-Molitor-Luxury-Parisian-Hotel-3Take the lift up to the urban rooftop floor to be met with local hipster Parisians hanging out at the chic bar and grill. The menu here serves up fresh herb-infused botanical cocktails and a healthy, unfussy menu of crunchy salads, French barbecued meats and fish served with small sides. While soaking up the rare-to-find 360-degree panoramic view, you’ll no doubt spot the Eiffel Tower and football stadium St. Germain De Pres that resides next door to the hotel. For those who prefer a taste of fine dining, the restaurant downstairs hosts an a la carte menu with imagination and direction from 3 Michelin-star French chef, Yannick Alleno.

Spa
Taking the lift back down to the lower level, we were warmly welcomed into the serene sanctuary of the Clarins Spa. Boasting 13 spacious treatment rooms, spa lovers will relish in the opportunity to hire a spa suite for half a day or so, where you can enjoy room service with a special spa menu, unwind in your own private Jacuzzi, sauna and relaxation area, all in complete and utter privacy. We experienced a seriously indulgent Clarins facial and massage ritual, which we cannot recommend highly enough. Other luxe-rated and results driven beauty brands such as Shu Uemura (for hair and beauty) and Kure Bazaar (for nails) line up to uphold the superior prestige of this sublime hideaway spa-escape.

Sleep
MGallery-Molitor-Luxury-Parisian-Hotel-4Rooms and suites are minimalist and modern, with greys, walnut browns and whites creating a neutral colour palette for the classic décor. If breakfast is included as part of your stay, it can be served directly to your room, or you can enjoy a continental buffet within the main restaurant or the hotel.

Sport
Perfect for sports enthusiasts and spectators, MGallery Molitor is situated just a stone’s throw away from the Roland Garros tennis courts and neighbours Le Parc des Princes football grounds for club Paris Saint Germain.

Sightseeing & Shopping
Close enough to the Metro (a 10 minute walk away), we could venture into the heart of Paris with a hassle-free train ride to explore the rest of the romantic city.
