The team at Rick Stein Marlborough have announced the restaurant will be reopening its doors on Friday 4th September. The Wiltshire venue was previously marked for closure due to COVID related cuts. However, after a rent reduction from the landlord, the decision has been reversed.
From September 4th, the Stein family will be welcoming guests to the restaurant once again and have been preparing the site in anticipation. Rick, his business partner Jill and their children Ed, Jack and Charlie have all been busy updating the new menu, wine list and decor ahead of the reopening.
Discussing the reopening, Rick Stein commented: “‘I’m delighted that we’re reopening our Marlborough restaurant on 4th September and we’re looking forward to welcoming back our loyal customers.”
Rick Stein Marlborough will offer customers a taste of Cornwall in the English countryside, serving up fresh Cornish ingredients, including sustainable fish and seafood.
The restaurant will be open all day, beginning with coffee, cake and more substantial breakfast dishes such as Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs; Smoked haddock omelette and a Full English.
For guests at lunchtime, there will be a selection of light specials from £10.95, including a Handpicked crab sandwich; classic Moules Frites and a lighter lunch portion of their traditional Fish & Chips.
For dinner, the cosy space is ideal for a casual midweek meal, as well as a celebration location with the option of either the a la carte or set menu to choose from, the latter offering two courses for £20.95 or 3 for £25.95.
Standout dishes on the a la carte menu include Grilled Mount’s Bay sardines with a tomato, garlic and thyme dressing; Scallops in the half shell with hazelnut and coriander butter or Indonesian seafood curry served with pilau rice and a green bean and grated coconut salad.
If opting for the set-menu, dish options include a Coarse pork and herb terrine with toasted sourdough and beetroot chutney; Pondicherry cod curry with basmati rice, ending in a fresh and vibrant Passion fruit pavlova and Chantilly cream.
Charlie has updated the wine list to pair with the menu, offering a brilliant and accessible selection of reds, whites, rose and sparkling to suit any occasion.
To accommodate guests who would still prefer to dine at home, Rick Stein Marlborough will be offering a takeaway service. Select dishes such as the Fish & Chips, Thai fish cakes and the curries will all be available to order via the Rick Stein app and collect at the restaurant.
Since first opening in 2016, Rick Stein Marlborough has been proud to support the community by adding a Marlborough pudding to the menu with 50p of each portion sold donated to Marlborough Food Bank. The team are delighted to have a cheque for £1,800 which has been raised over the past 12 months to present to the local food bank, in addition to the £1,000 donated this time last year.
The General Manager of Rick Stein Marlborough, Kevin Cole, concluded by saying: “As a team, we’re committed to looking forwards and I have felt such positivity from both staff and customers regarding our reopening which is brilliant. We can’t wait to get the doors open again and start serving great food with a high level of service people have come to expect and love.”
